PCN - what to do?

Hi all, any advice would be gratefully received on this PCN.
My car was parked in a car park in Sheffield that advertised itself with a huge blue lettered sign on the outside as a 'Public Pay and Display' The car park was half empty with plenty of spaces so the driver parked up and paid the relevant charge.
The driver inadvertently parked in a restricted place that was reserved for customers of the Casino (who own the land). I went back to look at how the driver could have missed the restriction. The bays were unmarked in any way to distinguish them from any of the others. The small yellow sign explaining the restriction was on a post at a 90 degree angle to the bay in which the driver parked, meaning the driver could not possibly see it from their position as they parked the car, it was also unclear as to which bays it was referring to as the bay in which the driver parked was the other side of the sign.
The driver didn't see the sign so was unaware of the restriction and as the sign was at an angle to where they parked they would have had to know it was there and would have to go looking for it. This was an honest mistake and as the car park was half empty the driver had no reason to park in a restricted bay as their was plenty of unrestricted spaces.
Question is, is it worth appealing this or just paying up?
Thanks in advance.

Firstly read the NEWBiES thread. Secondly try getting the Casino to cancel. This is the easiest way firstly, but edit your post to not admit who was driving.
If the signage is unclear and not visible it's always a very good appeal point but the PPC will always reject your initial appeal.REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0 -
Never ever pay up, always fight. From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
As above, please read the NEWBIES thread, then send the relevant appeal template you will find there as near to the appeal deadline as possible.
Don't appeal too soon, but don't miss the deadline. Do not reveal who was driving to anyone at any point.
What is the name of the PPC please?I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Get your priorities right. Edit your original post before you do anything else as already advised. Parking companies monitor these fora.
BPA members, so send the BPA template in blue from the NEWBIES thread around day 26 online or day 24 if the only method permitted by MB is by post, sent first class from a Post Office counter and obtain a free proof of posting.
Online is best if possible though.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Hi all, any advice would be gratefully received on this PCN.
THE DRIVER parked in a car park in Sheffield that advertised itself with a huge blue lettered sign on the outside as a 'Public Pay and Display' The car park was half empty with plenty of spaces so THEY parked up and paid the relevant charge.
THE DRIVER was travelling by train to London to return the same day unfortunately due to an issue with overhead cables at Luton THEIR train had to go back to London, meaning THEY would be about four hours delayed returning home.
So THEY asked THEIR PARTNER to collect the car so that THEY didn't get a ticket for overstaying. So THE DRIVER was surprised when TO GET A PHONE CALL TELLING THEM THEY had a parking ticket anyway.
THE DRIVER was stumped, it couldn't be for overstaying as THE PARTNER WAS asked to move it with plenty of time to spare.
It turned out that THE DRIVER inadvertently parked in a restricted place that was reserved for customers of the Casino (who own the land).
THE DRIVER went back to look at how THEY could have missed the restriction. The bays were unmarked in any way to distinguish them from any of the others. The small yellow sign explaining the restriction was on a post at a 90 degree angle to the bay in which THEY parked, meaning THEY could not possible see it from my position WHERE THEY parked the car, it was also unclear as to which bays it was referring to as the bay in which THEY parked was the other side of the sign.
THE DRIVER didn't see the sign so was unaware of the restriction and as the sign was at an angle to where THEY WERE parked THEY would have had to know it was there and would have to go looking for it.
This was an honest mistake and as the car park was half empty THEY had no reason to park in a restricted bay as there were plenty of unrestricted spaces.
Question is, is it worth appealing this or just paying up?

too many "me , myself and I" issues with your initial post so I have amended it for you above , I suggest you do the same to post #1
learn to speak in a manner where nobody is identified , so using words like THE DRIVER , THE PARTNER etc
the original post looked like a WITNESS STATEMENT for the claimant , which could be produced in court0 -

Nasty ex-clamper firm. Of course people coming here don't pay them! From what you have described why would anyone get their wallet out?
Easy peasy to beat at POPLA if you play it as per the forum templates, appealing at the right time as the keeper at day 26, if appealing online.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks both, done.
Both?
How long ago did the windscreen ticket appear?
You should take pictures of the signs if possible to show in your PoPLA appeal how inadequate they were.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.
