Day trip package - New York to Niagara Falls

Hi.
My family and I will be in New York and want to do a day trip package on Jan 2nd or 3rd. I've found a few on the web which all seem to be the same basic package (pick up, flight, transport, tour, lunch, return flight).
We are two adults, one 17 year old (so 3 adults effectively) and one 10 year old. The best I can find is at taketours.com (can't post link) which is $475 adults, $455 kids = $1880 USD
expedia was slightly more, Viator quite a bit more and no child pricing.
Anyone know of any better deal or a coupon or special offer at any other site?

A bit baffled as to why you need a 'tour'. Just book the flights and a hire car for the day.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Convenience and hassle.
I priced it separately and its going to cost at least $1500 USD and we have the hassle of hiring/picking up/dropping off a car, car insurance worries, the transport to and from New York airport plus the tour costs
etc.
Normally I would definitely arrange it separately but in this case its not worth it. Especially if I can shave some off my current best price.0 -
Delta flights are showing as under $900, a hire car wont be $600 more like 100??The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Can we please not get into a debate on this?
I'm just looking for any deals on a day trip package, as per my original post.
Thanks.0 -
You might be cheaper going on the bus from New York or possibly train. Depending on whether you want to go to the U.S. side or Canada side will depend what's what but I should imagine you will save loads:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

You can cross the rainbow bridge on foot for 50 cents per person if you want to venture into Canada, passports required obviously. Make sure you try the hurricane deck, best bit on the USA side. Views are awesome, but if anything slightly better from the Canadian side I think. I'd be tempted to price up driving to Niagara and an overnight stay in a hotel. Its a great drive through upstate New York, you could detour to Pennsylvania and see the Amish country if time allows.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. While it may save money travel time by bus or train could be a drawback
By Train: Amtrak service to Niagara Falls from New York City takes about 9.5 hours.
By Bus: It takes 9-11 hours to take the bus from New York City to Niagara Falls.:think:0 -
the trouble with flights is you look at the flight time and think great, but you have to get to the airport, check in, clear security and wait around. Internal USA flights are quick and easy compared to uk but I'd still say absolute minimum an hour at the airport each end. Flights would be to Buffalo airport - probably an hour from landing to the falls, and from Manhattan to any of NYC airports you would probably have to allow an hour, min 30 min drive assuming no traffic (which never happens).Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Hi all. We don’t have time for a bus trip or overnight stay, has to be one of the same day flight packages.
The cheapest so far as I mentioned is on taketours.com I am not allowed to post a link as a new user but googling "taketours 1 day fly to niagara from new york" gets you to it.0
