    First spend for my December budget yesterday at L1dl and came in at £8.63 so pleased with that as that should be it for the week, roasted a chicken last night and then leftovers in various forms the rest of the week. Then we go on holiday Saturday for 2 weeks (excited!!) :)

    £8.63/£100 (£50 saved for bringing back Scottish treats at Christmas).

    Good luck all!

    Hi all

    After an abysmal November, I'm setting my budget a little higher for December. Please count me in for £160. My December is to run from 25th November - 23rd December.

    So far I have spent £53.11 in the health food shop - this was a big tofu stock up, plus some grains and a couple of treaty bits.

    My fridge, freezer, and cupboards are pretty packed, however I will imminently need stock cubes, chickpeas, cannelini beans, tinned tomatoes, various herbs and spices, nutritional yeast, and black bags. I should think I'll also need olive oil, quinoa and oats this month too.

    Again, other than the above, (and anything else on my bit of paper I left on the side!) I should really only *need* veg... need being the operative word.

    In other news, my boiler packed up Saturday during the night. I rent off of friends so they came over yesterday morning and confirmed it is indeed broken. There is a plumber coming to look at it tonight but probably just assessing it rather than fixing. However they are dropping in a couple of heaters for me today while I'm at work. Discovered I have an immersion heater so was able to have a hot shower this morning, which was a vast improvement on yesterday!! Admittedly after having to wake up at 5.30 to turn it on... and then I've forgotten to turn it off. but it'st shouldn't cost too much for the few hours in the long run, plus I'm on flat rate so no expensive daytime rates!

    I made a lovely warming vegetable soup last night, recipe from the Oh She Glows cookbook. Highly recommend it. Made enough for last nights tea plus lunches Mon-Thu at work.

    Hope everyone has a good month!

  • Thank you for the warm welcome :)

    No unathorised shopping over here since Ocado, so I am very much on track.

    Have realised the massive amounts of non grocery spending that will be coming this month so just hoping for the best, and anything I can save grocery wise will be a great help.

  • Count me in for £60.00 again this month as usual I am quite happy with this amount and will probably have some left over as I am away from 23rd December until the New Year, so will be using up what stuff I have in the fridge and freezer as much as possible in December

    In again for Dec please, sticking with £125/£100, First figure is grocery, 2nd is others, I have about £75 saved in stamps and coupons for Christmas spends and most gifts already bought, going to make a 3rd Budget in New Year for bulk buys, as I have got a serious stock already 12 yes 12 Ariel liquid and 4 packs of 24 t,rolls, I was hoping to have room for Christmas goodies in the freezers, chock full, even got stuff in the ice tray.

    Well my weekend in Portsmouth Christmas festival didn't go at all to plan. Started off OK we thoroughly enjoyed visiting The Victory, Warrior and the Mary Rose but realised after 4 hours of climbing steps and exploring ships I had seriously overdone it, doubled up in pain and barely able to walk. Spent rest of time in hotel room lying down, hoping it would ease off and let me go to the market but it didn't.

    Still in a lot of pain today but at least I can walk a bit now. but count your blessings as they say, still have a lot of my Christmas money left and definitely wont be attempting to go shopping for a while so wont be tempted to go YS hunting, lol .

    Hello :wave: may I join? Have done this many years ago but need to get back to it. I'm going to ease in gently with a budget of £250 from 25th-30th. That's to include everything bought from supermarkets plus any meals or coffees from the joint account.

  • I'm usually a pop-to-the-shops-several-times-a-week person....or ask-husband-to-grab-stuff person (he works for Aldi to our downfall) so I thought I'd start the month with a big shop to stock up on everything ambient I worked out we needed, plus some bits for the freezer, alcohol, dog food, laundry stuff etc. I did a 'stock' take before hand which I think helped. I did have a freak out at how much I spent all together but had to remind myself that normally it's several shops a week, £30 here, tenner there, a random £2.74 etc etc. Anyway, Monday afternoon was shopping day so, so far...

    Aldi: £96.55
    Tesco: £39.01
    Local healthfood shop: £27.05
    Online: £10.17

    Total = 172.78
    Remaining = £152.22

    In theory all I'll need to buy the rest of this month is fresh fruit and veg, and food for the hens and the cat.
