I have £420.92 for December - this is what is left of my stores fund added to this month's money, less a bit of an overspend when my hoarding got the better of me. I thought I only had £220.92 left but then realised I had included the Christmas drinks spending under the wrong budget heading. Phew!
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

  • Hi everyone

After lurking on the forums for a while, I would like to join the December challenge.

My husband will be retiring in June next year and we will have a major reduction in income. Thanks to MSE, banking, savings (ha ha), insurance, utility bills etc are more or less under control BUT I spend far too much on grocery shopping.

I am setting a budget of £250 for the month starting today. We are going away for a week (paid ) and out on 25th/26th.

Starting in January, when I should know roughly what our retirement income will be, I am going to get really serious about reducing food expenditure.

Any ideas or help would be very welcome.
  • Please could I join again for December. November going well, but need higher budget for December as have eldest son home from university for a couple of weeks and feeding 7 on Christmas day so going for £275 from 1st to 31st December.
Many thanks for running the thread. :A

Evening all and a warm welcome to the new peoples and returners :hello:

Thanks a million for running this thread Zippy and Coxy again :D

Please put me down for my usual £200 for the month from 1st - 31st.

This covers all food, general toiletries, cleaning supplies etc. for the two of us.

I won't be having visitors for C day, as my DS is travelling in the USA and my darling step D is going to spend the day with her Mum and SD. We will be going to see her and the sprogs on Boxing Day - so I will just be taking a fancy dessert. So DH and I are going out for our C dinner, which will come out of entertainment fund :T

Good luck everyone for the month and hope you all enjoy the challenge

  • I'm in again for December. I've made a HUGE clawback in November, and I think I can do it.:j:j

I might even make it with my hoarding budget intact. I've still got a full freezer, and we're away for Christmas. The only catering I'm doing is Hogmanay, and that's going to be curries, so I've lots in for it already.

I'll update on Wednesday, but trying to come in under £3,300 for the year.:D
