Well done! We still have fresh stuff to buy, and I think we'll be showing almost the same figures.

Hubby nipped down to Áldi this morning for a basics top-up, planning to walk through the door just as they opened. Despite his early start he said it was trollymaggeddon down there. He slalomed his way through with just a basket :rotfl:

I gave up alcohol 18 months ago, after two glasses of white wine created the last-straw migraine attack which wiped out some of my holiday. This time of year I miss Bailey's, and buck's fizz. Hubby said he would look round to see if there were any Christmassy alcohol free alternatives, but only came back with four cans of cider for the son. We'll see if anything turns up in Moreishowns on Saturday.

    Áldi £9.59
Target £80 per week groceries, household and cleaning for four adults.

    Afternoon all

DH went to Al*i this morning and spent £12.07. He said it wasn't too bad, though there were loads of staff refilling everywhere. Unfortunately out of chicken breasts, but he's going to Li*l t/m, must be doolally :rotfl: and said he'll get some there. That should be it for the week :D

Will just need some fresh things about Thursday next week

Hope you all have a frugal Friday

  • Kkffoo, I made a lovely non-alcoholic mulled "wine" a few years back, even mum loved it and she doesn't like mulled anything. I warmed apple juice and cranberry juice with a few whole cloves, orange zest (cut a big hunk with no pith to make it easy to fish out) and a couple star anise and a big stick of cinnamon. Tasty and non-alcoholic.

Dentist done and a date for the wisdom tooth to come out - and I don't have to go to hospital! Phew! They offered the 29th but I really don't want to go the day after my birthday! So it's Friday the 13th instead. Lol.

Getting worried about going to the shops tomorrow with your talk! Budget is looking ok and my bank account is looking amazing! Thank you guys SO much! I'm in a difficult place of being on a low income, so no chance of buying my own home, and not being in debt, so saving didn't really get me anywhere, but a kick up the bum has made me do it anyway, which means car insurance and MOT etc that is coming up, won't be a concern and maybe I'll be able to take the DS away soon - although we live at a seaside holiday resort so that often feels a bit daft!

    Anyway, another grocery free day!

nsd yesterday. twin grandsons have now departed so hoping ys bargains will be bountiful the next few evenings....starting tonight!!! xx
  • Still in budget, not sure if I got struck by lightening, but have found it much easier this month. Have been living a lot out of the cupboards/ fridge freezer, which are still rammed. Spent £18 and really did not have too much to show for it, but did buy a couple of expensive 'eats' in Holland & Barratt, which came to £8. Have updated sig.

kkffoo this sounds really easy - not sure if the syrups are easy to get though and I haven't tried it personally, so don't know what it tastes like. https://www.caloriecount.com/forums/foods/baileys-lovers-alcoholic-extremely-low-cal
  • Need to buy the last few things today - dips, coleslaw, bread and milk. Then I'm going ys shopping tonight and tomorrow to see what bargains are around to help me next year! Love roasts but can't justify, even with streeeeetching through the week, so really want to get some reduced joins, to chop and freeze. Here's hoping!

One (yes, 1) whole turkey (too small for us) left in Lids Ipswich yesterday with no more deliveries due (raises loudspeaker to lips) "bring on plan B". We should have known when we could get a parking space without queuing. First year we have not ordered one :(

Got a piece of beef today

    Hi everyone.
£36.76 in Aldi which was busy but not ridiculous. I now have everything I need to see me through to my final shop which will be next Friday (famous last words:o).
Although the shop wasn't too bad, the traffic was dreadful and that combined with the truly grim weather has left me without any desire to venture out again:)

Oh wow, thank you both for those ideas! For some reason, despite trying so many foods home-made I hadn't really thought of drinks. They both sound like something I would like. Rather than stress and rush to find ingredients now, I'm going to look forward to working on this in the New Year.

Phew! I bet it will taste just as good.

Thought we'd escape the rush today, and visited our local museum/art gallery. Frugal day out, especially as cafe turned out to be closed!
Didn't quite avoid the Xmas panic though, as we discovered the reason the cafe was closed was to cater for an endless stream of sprinting punters picking up Christmas catering boxes.
Felt quite chilled by comparison as three of them shot out of the car-park in front of us, no doubt on their way to the next expensive appointment.

Made my hubby's list for Moreishons / Áldi, tomorrow, and hopefully some stop-gap half-price schloer will appear as a consequence. If he doesn't weaken and buy emergency mince pies we will come in on budget :D
