  • No spends today, but I do need to get a few things for some foodie gifts that they didn't have in Lidlilly. No mad rush. One of the things is so I can make amaretto infused Marshmallow and salted caramel chocolate bark. I think it will go down well. They're for a couple of friends and I'll do another one with just cranberries etc on. Handy to have for the postman etc. I basically need rolos and cream. Haha

Hi everyone. I've done the rest of this week's food shop for £19.57 which I was pleased with as it included 12 pints of milk and a couple of loaves for the freezer. Because I doubled up on Super 6 fruit yesterday this should mean no top up shops (my downfall:o). I've also got some frozen veg to try which was really reasonably priced and will be handy mid to late week when the fresh stuff runs out.
This also included some 1 litre bottles of sugar free milkshake syrup from Home Bargains for £1.87. DS loves it and it's £2 for 740ml in Asda so I've stocked up.
This leaves me one shop to do this month with half my budget left. It will be the shop on Christmas Eve but I've got a meal plan and I'll make sure I've got a comprehensive list so there is no excuse for going over budget. All I have to do now is stay focused:)

Small spend today on eggs Iceland 2 x 10 packs 1.50 and 1.20 on 2 packs cooking bacon in Asda, didn't really need these but noticed how very lean they were and the best before is January 17th

    Total 11.60 so far.

  • Spent £6 today in Sainsbury's, have updated sig. Need to make some coleslaw and houmous (need chickpeas) and that should be me done 'till Monday.
  • I'm popping in with a massive £302.64.

Between hubby and I we have spent an obscene amount of Xmas food!!!
I'm super annoyed as we didn't need all that food.

As you can we we have gone way over our annual budget, but I've got to take some positives from this:
    1) I tracked every spend for the entire year
    2) Averaging our spends over the 12 months means we spent on average £224.16 a month (this is for 2 adults and 2 young children both in nappies)
    3) we have recently discovered Aldi ( despite only living 2 mins away) and how cheaply we could do our food shop

    February GC £26.68/£250

  • Thanks for the Aldi reminder Meg72 - really need to get myself there after the weekend - love when they do their 19p deals - need to have a good cook up or the veg will start walking out of my fridge. Does anyone have a good carrot soup recipe. I actually 'hate' corriander, but don't mind it in carrot & corriander soup - would it work with powdered corriander. Accidentally bought a bag of it instead of cumin - might be a good way to use up the yukky stuff.

    .

I use this one, just leave out the fresh coriander, and I chop some chives into it for the green bits.
