Well, I haven't spent any of our grocery money for the last three days, because I was looking after Mum following her cataract operation. However I left £45 on the spice rack for the Offspring to buy anything they felt they needed, and there's £10 left, so I've added £35 to our total. I have no idea what they spent it on though I can see some shrink-wrapped broccoli in the fridge, so they went to W8rose rather than the market... hmmm!

I've also come back from Mum's with some food, as I'd bought some in down there (from her budget) which we didn't use in the end & she won't use up herself. So we're a chicken to the good... tomorrow's supper sorted!

I can relate to the children shopping at Waitress thing - we left DS with a bank card to buy shopping with while we went off on holiday one year and came back to find he had set up an on-line shopping account with them and spent over £70 on organic meat. I nearly wept before sitting him down and explaining some basic economics. Now he lives in his own place he scours YS, Aldos and the markets. Marvellous!

I have also just returned from my Mother's where I have been for over a week, helping her convalescence from heart surgery. DH has been shopping so will wait to see what appears on the bank account as no receipts to be seen yet

  • Fingers crossed that your DH behaved, Suffolk lass; mine evidently egged the Offspring into buying fish & chips on one of the three nights I was away! Bit of a shame, really, as tomorrow's a special day that we'd normally have had a take-away on or gone out for a meal, but the money's spent now.

NSD for us today, and hopefully tomorrow too, though fruit & veg stocks are running low...

  • Suffolk and thrift, hope your mums are doing well.

Stupid forum wouldn't let me post for the past few visits. I ended up not shopping today because I needed to do some audio typing work I'd been given. It's as and when work and the man is a sweetheart. I have a second tape to type up tomorrow too. Add in that the boy has nativity shows today and tomorrow and after finishing at 3:30pm has to be back at school for 4:30pm until 6pm so he needs something quick that he'll eat quick. Fish fingers, chips and beans to the rescue! I can't eat so early, then after he went to bed I didn't want to cook so peanut butter sandwich it was! Not quite what I had in mind. But if I can stretch to Wednesday after work I'll be able to go to Lidlilly, which is an hour round trip. Hence why I put it off! But it will be a big shop and there are a few thing I want for Christmas from them. In other news our local town has a butcher's shop opening on Wednesday! It's very exciting. And, after today we got to run down the freezer some more!
I wish I liked offal wishus, but I simply can't stand the stuff.

£26 in morries last night, got a turkey crown and a piece of beef, £21 together, loads of ys for the remainder, 18 eggs, 2 packs stir fry mix, 3 sprouting broccoli, 4 bags radish, 4 packs lamb liver, 4 packs raspberries, lge pork pie, 3 mozzarella, and a huge bag of spuds, paid with my saver stamps, already included in previous spends, so nothing to add to spends was given cash back for remaining stamps, handy as I would have got cash out today, need petrol today wouldn`t be surprised over £40
Do I need it or just want it.
  • I've totally lost track :(:( Only my first attempt but still feel a little despondent. About 90% certain I've still got about £80 of my budget left (at least) but I'vve got thrown by bits and pieces husband has picked up and used 'his' money on (he's been getting some travel expenses recently, which he won't have from January, so it's not unusual for him to grab stuff at the end of the work day - he works in Aldi :O ).

    ARGH

Never mind. I will continue these challenges next year and I'm sure things will get better.

  • Hi all
Have been reading the thread but not totalled my spends as yet. Think I only need food for next week then chicken and veg, pots and milk for over Xmas weekend. What have you all done about Xmas - added extra onto your normal monthly shop?
