    Evening all

DH was unexpectedly here for dinner today. I was going to have a chilli wrap with hm guacamole, sour cream, grated cheese and salad, but DH not keen on chilli wraps. So I made salmon fishcakes with sweetcorn (freezer) and slow cooked tomatoes instead. We both really enjoyed it and I can have the chilli wrap on Sunday as I hadn't defrosted the chilli :T

    Had another NSD today :j

Hope you all have a super Saturday

Hi everyone. I've done my second shop of the month for £34.26. Which included 36 toilet rolls and some goodies for our pre Christmas get together. I've got lots of ingredients in stores so I'm going to get cracking tomorrow and make most things but I did get some olives, cashews and some nice cheese including some extra mature Stilton which I only ever get at Christmas as a treat.
I'm going to have a go at making my own savoury biscuits for cheese as I've got all the ingredients so that will save me a few pounds and I'll enjoy doing it (I love a day pottering in the kitchen, especially when it's wet and cold outside).
All in all I'm happy to be under budget (although I do have two shops left to do). It's certainly a prettier picture than half way through last month:o:.
    Have a good weekend everyone:)

Had a spend amounting to £3 on some hair stuff and Biscotte spread from £1 store - never again - I have been spooning it out of the jar - literally. Have updated sig.

Save Dosh, Personally I find that making it without tahini (which is the money saving way really!) massively impacts on flavour, so I always make mine with tahini as it just gets wasted otherwise!
I hear you regards the Tahini, but I've never made 'really' nice houmous, even using Tahini, that is until now. Had another 'tweek' and I'm honestly not joking, it's really lovely. I might try it with cayenne pepper (elsiepac) or roasted paprika as a change, but really it's so nice. I didn't add water this time, upped the garlic & peanut butter slightly, which intensified the flavour. So chuffed I know how to make this now, as I go through a ton of the stuff.

    1 tin chickpeas (rinsed)
    1 1/2 tsps peanut butter
1/2 roasted pepper (out of jar)
3 x garlic (minced, which I freeze into mini cubes, so not sure how much)
    BLEND
Add salt, pepper, a tiny dash of chilli powder & a little bit of lemon to taste.
  • Mrs C, if it were me I'd declare it as a January budget, as that's when it ends, but I'd post in December thread until January started for the help, comradery and to keep myself on track.

Haha save dosh! I did that with custard cream spread so I don't buy it!

No spends again today. Got to find out when my parents want us for tomorrow to determine whether to go shopping tomorrow or Monday. It'll probably be Monday. Got to brave going to Honiton on my own. I went when learning to drive, but never on my own. I mastered going somewhere new today for a birthday party the boy had been invited to so I'll have plug on with my success - I get rather anxious about going to new places, but I try to push myself every now and then to not shrink my world. Honiton has a Lidl and there are a few things I want from there.

So, to my £24.62 I need to add:

£1.61 in Mozza - load of YS stuff bought with my £5 voucher, but I forgot eggs! So had to go back and spent £8.63... because there were even more YS things.

Today I add £9.11 in Aldi

Total so far... £43.97, and 3 NSDs.

Thanks guys for the recipes... I transformed a scraggy amount of pork mince into some lovely herby meatballs from a recipe on here yesterday and had with onion gravy, mash, cabbage and carrots. Yummy!

Today I am making chilli beef and bacon pizza completely from scratch... ready in 10 mins! Looking decidedly awesome. Trying not to scratch an itch in my eye with chilli fingers!
    Keep reading books!
    July grocery challenge START: £150.
    total SPENT £127.53, REMAINING £22.37.
  • Nsd today. Will shop tom for the week, but need very little: bread, milk, long life milk, and not much else! Only feeding the children until weds, then they're at their dad's until tues after dinner (although they often come back hungry, so I'll make sure there's something for supper).
    Meal plan:
    Today - spag Bol
Sunday - sausages and cheesy mash
Monday - lasagne using lo bol
Tuesday - sweet and sour chicken
    Weds - soup
Then I'll just eat what's in until the ch are back, and Ill try not to do another shop until the Tuesday they're back. However, I haven't finished my Xmas shopping, and so I may visit food-selling places - hope I can keep focused!

Current spends since I started my December on Tuesday, £00.00. :)

  • Glad I checked back here this morning, as I hadn't got the sausages out of the freezer yesterday, but luckily there's still time if I do it now! I'll be trying a new brand, can't remember what they're called, but got four packs of 8 for 20p each ys in morries a few weeks ago, normal price £2! I'd never pay £2, but delighted to pay 20p!!

Really must be strong when I go shopping later - I'll report back here with what I bought, as that'll make me feel more accountable!
