  • Yes I guess it is.

I feel a bit better about it all - most of the unplanned spending was to help a friend who is having a hard time at the moment so I'm OK with that.

Managed to do well today - got my free coffee and a chocolate bar on o2 plus I spotted a great gift idea for my mum - a spa in a jar. I've already bought her a few little bits so it'll be a lovely way to present it.

This is the hardest time of the year for debt repayment so don't be to hard on yourself. Start with a bang in the new year, start saving for Xmas 2017 as well and just think of the financial position you will be in this time next year.x

  • Good point. Definitely going to start saving for next year (and actually try to buy presents during the year when I see things rather than the mad December shopping!)

Didn't even manage to have a NSD as we needed milk! Ah well tomorrow is a new day.

  • Just been watching most expensive Christmas on channel 4. My goodness! What people buy is crazy!

Today has been good - no spending and managed to get to the gym at lunchtime (having not been for about a week). Looking forward to three next few days as well as I have two Christmas parties and a lunch to go to so will hopefully start feeling all festive.

Hope u enjoy the parties, probably need the gym after them. I used to go to the gym but packed it in due to not having the time. Just bought an exercise bike and hoping to buy a cross trainer with any Xmas money I get. X

  • Haha yes! I love my gym membership as I usually go most weekdays and lift weights. Plus it's only £20 a month.

  • Oh dear, feel like things have fallen apart a bit on the money saving front: unavoidable trip up north, birthday drinks, work leaving drinks and last minute Christmas shopping mean I've totally lost track of spending for the month. Going to try to get back on track after Christmas and start saving in the new year. Definitely the hardest time of year to save so I'm going to start saving for next Christmas asap!

  • Happy New Year!

Finally checking in after a bit of a spendy festive season - I may have gone a little crazy in the sales but it's time to rein it in a get back on track. I did manage to get some skincare stuff cheap so that'll last months plus some new clothes.

The good news is the OH has paid £1k off the credit cards (I can't say I've contributed to this but I determined to pay some off this month) and the freezer is completely full (we got a few reduced turkeys) so plenty of scope for thrifty meals in over the next few weeks.

I'm currently enjoying a few days off before I start my new job and eating the remaining Christmas treats - diet starts on Monday!

  • Wow so we've had a weekend of adding to the debt but in a good way - new car and season ticket are sorted. Apart from that we've had very little spending over the past few days.

Feeling really positive this week. Started my new job and getting back into the routine of going to the gym. Hope everyone else is having a good start to their week.
