Thanks Bobarella and Brandysnap47.
We're pretty good at meal planning and do try to use up what we have in the freezer / veg box before we buy anything else. That said I estimate we spend at least £160 a month on food shopping which considering there are only two of us is a huge amount - I will definitely be cutting this down!
At least I'm finding some ways of doing Christmas shopping on the cheap - we get £50 of Nectar vouchers yesterday so I was able to get some presents and new Christmas tree lights (which I've been meaning to replace for the last five years).Loan - £12702.19 Credit cards - £4150.88 Overdraft - £0

well done on the progress so far!
I find I make the food list for a week, I'm really good then I'd rather nap on a Sunday and it all goes to pot.
Following along on your journey

Nice work so far - and you've reminded me, I need to factor in a Sainsbugs shop at some stage as I have Nectar points. Free food! Yay!

Free food is great!
Well today has been rather rubbish! I found out that my phone is apparently "damaged beyond repair" aka cannot be fixed because I had the screen replaced a few months back. It's very annoying as I have over a year left on my current contract. I'm sure I'll cope but still pretty grumpy about it.
Add to that a very difficult relationship with my line manager making work no fun at all, missing my sports club tonight because I'm late home from work and the o2 priority app not working so no free cafe Nero drink for me I'm pretty much ready to write this Tuesday off!
Still I've not spent anything yesterday and today!

I meant to post this at the weekend after I wrote it out:
Saturday - chicken bacon and leek pie - chicken from freezer, half packet bacon in fridge needed using up and leeks from last week's veg box. Plenty of leftovers
Sunday - roast beef with boiled potatoes (10p from m&s) sprouts and chard from our allotment and carrots from last week's veg box. Leftovers already frozen to make stew plus extra beef in the fridge.
Monday - cauliflower clafoutis with salad that needed using up (this has Parma ham from Aldi which is a little expensive)
Tuesday - meatballs - we got some reduced in m&s last week which we froze, reduced peppers and mushrooms from the veg shop, tinned toms from the cupboard.
Wednesday - mackerel and cabbage omelette (again probably shouldn't have bought the mackerel but there's loads so it will make another appearance early next week)
Thursday - roast beetroot, feta and lentils - again using up what we have in the fridge and cupboards
Friday - fish and chips (another bargain from m&s - reduced cod fillets)
So lots of leftovers for lunches. I'm planning to use up things a lot more in next week's meals as I did buy quite a few things this week.
I also made a banana cake with some overripe ones we hadn't eaten so OH is happy!
