Great idea Galtizz, I will set my alarm for that on the 23rd. If you are very brave and perhaps have all the stuff you need anyway so are not too stressed, it is sometimes worth braving the supermarkets late on Christmas Eve about an hour before closing - they often have the most amazing reductions on perishables,. One year I bought home carrier bags of bread at 1p a loaf, which i distributed around my friends and family. Also two years ago we bought lovely fruit baskets, normally retailing at £10 for £1 so they made some last minute extra pressies!
I've found that for the last 3 Christmasses (sp?) there have been very few shoppers in the supermarkets on Christmas Eve. Except for about an hour before the shop closed, that is - the staff have twiddled their thumbs.
In Tesco one year, some of the checkout assistants were playing a game shouting out who was free, vying for customers. I think it will be different this year though, with it being a long holiday.
The year before last, Safeway were giving away bags of potatoes - 2 bags per person. My friend had her mother and her 3 children with her and was given 10 bags - when she protested saying she couldn't use that much, they more or less shuffled her and her trolley along to get to the next person. She then rang around her friends to see if anyone needed more spuds!0 -

Sorry it has taken a week to get back to you I only get on here on Saturday mornings. My recipe is simple
100g plain chocolate - I use 70% cocoa stuff
275g icing sugar
100g unsalted butter
Rum (2+ tbsp)
cocoa powder to finish.
Melt chocolate then beat the whole lot together roll in to balls and dip in the cocoa and put in fridge to set. Yum Yum.
You can also roll them in flavoured instant choc drink. My daughter made some one year and we used up the turkish delight flavour ( :-X) from a variety box. Grandad thought they were lovely. ;D
Have also tried the choc orange flavour and put some Cointreau into the truffles. As far as I'm concerned, the boozier, the better0
