Has anybody got any experience with Yorkshire Bank?

Is it good experience? Or bad?
My main bank is with First Direct and I think they're great. Although if you've seen some of my previous threads, you'll know I was hit by a fraud attack early last year and was left quite a long time without money and so since then, I've always had a second account.
My second account for most of the time was with Lloyds Bank but then earlier this year, I was having numerous account problems and customer services were always pressing the wrong buttons or something and cancelling the wrong cards, and then also not ordering me new ones and in the end I'd had enough.
I tried Halifax but they wouldn't allow me any facilities, and the customer service was quite disgusting really, and a good few months ago, I switched over to Barclays.
The initial switch service from them was bad enough, but I've been into branch and the staff are so condescending and giving me false information. Or if I phone up customer services to talk about issues with the app and website, I'm put through to an Indian call centre and transferred to the financial difficulties department once I explain why I wanted help.
Since then, I've been deciding if to leave yet again or if to just not bother. I think I'm used to FD's award winning customer service, that I'm expecting it from everywhere else too. And maybe I'm being stereotypical, but First Direct is based in Leeds and they have the best customer service, if Yorkshire Bank the same? I mean I'm from Leeds and I'm always being told we're the nicest people in the country :rotfl:
I don't know, any suggestions and experience?

I have experience of Clydesdale Bank, which is the Scottish sister company of Yorkshire Bank. I have always found Clydesdale to be an excellent organisation, very responsive to customer needs and helpful staff. Branch staff are particularly good. I would expect YB to be similar.0 -
We've been with Barclays for 26 years and, although we've had some small problems, they have always been resolved quite quickly and efficiently. As for the branch staff, on the rare occasions we've actually had to go in., they've been great. Also I find the app and website very easy to use.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

I'm sure every bank will get mixed reviews, for instance I am also with Clydesdale and my experience of dealing with them in branch( albeit at a Yorkshire bank office) and on line and telephone has been poor.
On trying to pay in a cheque in branch I had made an error which I corrected and was told just to initial the amendment, at the timeI thought this was wrong but just did as I was told. Sure enough the cheque was rejected later needing a full signature on the amendment. This surely should be basic knowledge to bank counter staff.
Additionally Clydesdale is the only bank that I have had problems when transferring ISAs into their account, there were 3 transfers involved and they sent the transfer requests to the wrong banks.
This wennt on for ages as apparently it was not as simple as the banks then redirecting the request to the correct bank , but instead new requests had to be issued, and then unbelievably they again sent one again to the incorrect bank.
In fairness to them they did backdate the interest and pay £200 for the trouble but I could have done without the hassle.0 -

I've had similar difficulties with RBS and Barclays over the years but have always found Clydesdale to be efficient and helpful. I am wondering if perhaps your experience was simply a one-off, in which case it would be unfair to condemn CB and YB.0 -
I have a YB account, purely used as a savings account. I suppose it could be an alright account if you don't mind the clunky code generator, and paper statements only. I don't like their online banking though this would be a matter of personal preference, and if you were happy with the FD online banking, you should be ok. Aside from when I switched to them, I had no reason to call them so can't offer an opinion on their call centre.0

I opened a Cash ISA with First Direct early last year and I made a mistake and opened one with Barclays thinking I would be able to as it was a different tax year, but I later discovered I couldn't. So I went into branch to close it down, the lady there was really talking down to me, and she threatened that if I don't tell First Direct then I'll soon be fined for tax fraud by HMRC.
Obviously I got worried so I did contact them, and they informed me I did nothing wrong, mistakes happen and I need to contact HMRC. So I did and even the guy there said it's nothing really to do with them.
So I just left it then. But then I've had issues with other things too and awful experience phoning up. 8 guess we'll all find good things and bad things. Like I feel First Direct is a God send whereas other people really don't like it :rotfl:0 -

Even First Direct's internet banking isn't my favourite that I've seen, but for their other services, it makes up really and doesn't bother me all that much0 -

Well it certainly wasn't a one off as I mentioned problems with branch , telephone and online.
Not condemning them by any means just sharing my experiences, as requested by OP0 -

37 years with YB this month, although it hasn't been my 'main' account for over 10 years. They were always light years behind other banks, but have caught up a little now.
Online banking isn't the best experience. Hate the secure key set up, as I do with M&S, HSBC, et al. Don't use Apps for any of my banking tasks so can't comment there.
It's been reliable for a good while, with no issues found. Then again, it only sees £1K in and just over £1K out each month these days.
I can't understand anyone wanting it for a second account though, being as the OP's reason seems to be for keeping emergency funds...especially since it pays no interest. Then again, the OP is fast running out of options going by posting history!0
