I dumped my Santander 123 credit card a few days ago, just before the first £36 annual fee was due to hit my account.

They didn't offer me an alternative, but I have another (no fee) card from them anyway.

Santander must be haemorrhaging customers left, right and centre now.

Its not an annual fee. It's £3 a month. So for the moment if you spend £300 a month on trains and petrol, its still worth having.

£3 a month or £36 a year. It does matter. The fee is higher than the cashback I'd earn. :(

The 0.5% on everything and no overseas spending card from Santander has a £3 month fee too.

What card is this - I can't find it on their website?

The only cards available from Santander now appear to be:

    1. All in One Credit Card (repackaged and downgraded old 123 card which is the discussion of this thread) cost £3pm.

    2. Everyday Credit Card - 0% on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months. No fee. [Much better alternatives out there that beat this]

    3. Zero Credit Card - no foreign transaction fees on purchases and cash withdrawals made abroad in the local currency and no cash withdrawal fee anywhere in the world. No fee. [Useful as a back-up card if you don't already have a Halifax Clarity, Creation card etc.]

Good decision. Unless you could get cashback "WELL ABOVE" £3 it is not worthy at all.

There are few zero percent for purchase creditcards outthere still available rather than aiming for cashback and the pay £3 a month.

Just to remind people here, there might be a person here working for Santander who keep promoting how good Santander123, where in fact it is no longer attractive compared to other options that people could have.

That's me out too once february comes. When do you think Santander were going to tell us themselves ?

The news broke last week, but not heard a peep from Santander. Maybe they're embarrassed. Whatever the reason, it's more shoddy customer service.

Of course, if your cashback is less than the fee, then drop the card now. That's a no brainer.

But some people drop these products before the changes kick in through a fit of pique! That's just silly. Glad you are not one of those SnowTiger.

Personally, I have no trouble spending £300 a month on train fares and diesel. I get £9 a month cash back, less a £3 fee, so my effective cash back is 2%. For me, that deal is unbeatable.

Come February, I will be ditching this card as for me there will be better deals out there. But it would be silly to cancel my card now when its currently the best deal I can find!

It's never a case of one size fits all, we each have to work out what is best for us based on our own circumstances.

Some people on here just seem to look for an excuse to knock Santander at every opportunity! I can't understand why. Perhaps they work for a competitor. If so, they really ought to declare that in their signature. If they don't they should stop their puerile sniping at others when they are ignorant of the facts!

Letters seem to be going out now. I got mine yesterday. That was the first I'd heard about it as I had missed this thread and don't have any inside knowledge, regardless of what one poster on here seems to think!!

I got my letter the day after I wrote my post above, but I'd learned about the changes from here beforehand. Letters may be going out in batches and I just happened to be in the first batch.
