There was a screw right in the middle of the tyre! .

Standard puncture repair usually around £15 to £20 even at Kwik-Fit. Despite your wife's concern a puncture repair wouldn't result in a blowout down the line because they use a mushroom patch so the patch is much larger than the hole that the screw puts in and the tyre pressure keeps it forced against the tyre, they don't fail.

That 0843 number is a premium rate "call connection service" owned and operated by a third-party. It is not the official number. By using that number you are paying a scammer to forward your calls.

Calls are charged at the local rate, plus your phone company's access charge.
Err, no. Calls to 03 numbers are inclusive from landlines and mobiles, else charged at 'geographic rate' - the same as calling 01 and 02 numbers.

A distinct 'local rate' (a lower charge for a local call) ceased to exist in 2004. Access and Service charge pricing applies only on 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers.

    So probably repairable then.

Almost certainly. I repaired a tyre affected like that - I didn't replace that tyre until 4 years (~45k miles) later.

And when I say I ... I mean me, myself, using a tyre repair kit. (Tar string style).
