New car, no locking nut, costs incurred

Bought a new Mini a couple of months ago, got a puncture, called a mobile tyre fitter and only then discovered there was no locking wheel nut in the car. The tyre fitter left me the tyre.

Called the dealer that sold the car and they arranged a low-loader to collect the car and take to my nearest Mini garage (not them).

Tonight I've had to pay the Mini garage £32 for fitting the tyre. Is it reasonable to expect my original dealer to reimburse this?

A decent tyre fitter would have the tools to remove your locking nuts without the key. I have several sets.

£32 to a fit a tyre? But what puzzles me is why they left you the tyre in the first place? Why not just say they cannot fit it because of the lack of a locking key and take it back?

1/2 hrs labour to change a tyre , sounds OK , but how did they get the wheel off the car?

From what you say, I guess eTyres aren't decent tyre fitters. He left the tyre because I had paid for it and he suggested we keep it in case Mini offered to fit it rather than us having to pay him for another visit.

The point is that I've already paid eTyres to supply and fit the tyre, but they couldn't because the car had no locking wheel nut.

I've paid eTyres and now I've had to pay a random Mini garage. Surely my dealer/Mini UK should reimburse the £32?

I guess Mini garages have all the locking wheel nuts for Mini wheels.

so how much were etyres going to charge to change a tyre? , no that was inclusive id the retail price of the tyre inc mobile fitting , you ended up taking a tyre that you bought from elsewhere to a mini garage and they charged you £32 for labour only

why did the origional mini garage not send a key with the truck

why did you accept the tyre without fitting ?

bit like taking your own stuff into say a computer shop and expecting them to fit for nothing ,

advise e tyres that you would like refund as they did not fit tyre

and have you got a key yet?

I bet they'll have it covered in their terms and conditions that the OP is to provide a locking key if locking nuts are fitted. He didn't so why shouldn't the pay be paid? They turned but to do the job it's not their fault and hardly an unfair term to have in a contract.

Should be easy without a locking nut, bit difficult without a key/tool to fit a fitted locking nut though.

Why was it not possible to repair the tyre?

The very least I would expect would be for the Mini dealer to reimburse the cost of fitting.
I suggest you speak with the Dealer Principal.
