why did you accept the tyre without fitting ?

bit like taking your own stuff into say a computer shop and expecting them to fit for nothing ,

advise e tyres that you would like refund as they did not fit tyre

and have you got a key yet?

eTyres arrived on time with the tyre to be fitted - it's my fault (or the fault of Mini) that I didn't have the locking nut to allow them to remove the wheel and complete the tyre fitting. I don't see why eTyres should be out-of-pocket.

Why was it not possible to repair the tyre?

The very least I would expect would be for the Mini dealer to reimburse the cost of fitting.
I suggest you speak with the Dealer Principal.
    Be nice, but firm.
If he does not offer satisfactory recompense, advise him you will be contacting BMW with your complain:

There was a screw right in the middle of the tyre! Also, my wife (correctly in my opinion) wanted to pay the money and replace it for the peace of mind of knowing it wasn't going to suddenly blow-out one day.

Thanks for the info - I'll do that tomorrow.

Why would you contact BMW? They will simply refer you to MINI, which has its own complaints department.

I think that you will find that BMW & MINI share the same 'Summit ONE' building in Farnborough - and the same switchboard. LOL ;)

There's a high chance they'll say that the key was in the car when it was supplied - they may even have a copy of a checklist showing it as present - and you've lost it. You've also not checked whether it was present in the time you've had the car, so it could easily be said that you're responsible for any costs arising.

Really, you're going to be on their goodwill.

I used to share a building with my wife, but it doesn't mean we spoke to each other.;)

I would press the supplying dealer for a new locking wheel key and move on, after punching yourself on the arm for not checking that there was a locking wheel nut key when you bought the car.

£32 for fitting a tyre is a lot, but in the scheme of car ownership, its not that much really.
