Getting back on the MFW Wagon

Good Morning!
I am so pleased that spring is here and we can get outside more, which LO is loving.
This week started off on a very unproductive note - I let myself get sucked into the firefighting mentality that seems to have invaded my workplace. The end of the week was better and I have some OT booked for today to get a big project moving along.
This week has been a bit spendy, with car tax and home insurance renewals landing. Both have been renewed and we will be receiving a £30 voucher back from the home insurer in about 12 weeks.
To balance things out and keep us moving along towards Mortgage Freedom;
- I have been using the washing line this week to save on radiator drying our clothes.
- OT booked for today
- Stayed on budget with groceries this week
- A bag of baby clothes have been washed ready for ebay, I just need to iron and photograph them tomorrow before listing.
We are now into the £77,000's :T

Thanks for popping by Squirellgirl x it's nice to meet new people on this journey.
So . . . The eBay listings never got done, but will be put on the list for wed or thurs. Car insurance quotes are on the cards for this week too.
Not much to report on the money front, but am hoping to pick up some more OT this weekend.2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
How did the car insurance search go? Did you put the stuff on ebay?
I think it's the little things that add up and make the biggest difference in the end - it keeps you in the mind-set and helps you focus on the big picture but celebrate the daily achievements. I'm going to do what I can to think about how to not spend money0 -
Hi Squirellgirl, Thanks for popping by. I agree, the little savings do quickly add up. As for my progress;
50% of items I had found were listed on eBay, with the other half to be done today (plus I have found another couple of bits for listing).
The car insurance quotes were picked up by OH and he has found a quote that is about £200 less than the renewal quote! :eek: I have to say, I have no idea how they can justify such a huge gap between existing and new customer quotes, it just seems silly to me.
Anyhow, on a more somber note - a couple of unexpected expenses have hit and I am now over budget for the month with 1 more week till payday.
I an attempt to pull things back on track, I have done 3 days overtime this month and have applied for 2 market research/secret shopper projects (just need to wait and see if my applications are accepted).
Off to check one poll, yougov and swag bucks accounts2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Wow, that's quite some difference on the car insurance front!!:eek:
Well done for getting the ebay items listed - it's one of those things I've never done but I have to get rid of some books soon so will be finding a similar way to offload those for a bit of cash if possible
Glad you've got some OT to help offset the extra expenses - hopefully, it will all balance out in the end0 -
So, the numbers have been run and I am starting next month in the red :mad: This is solely down to a lack of organisation on my part.
I do have money in savings to cover this, but I am refusing to touch the money as this isn't an emergency. Its 'stupid tax'* (*stolen from a fella called Dave Ramsey).
I have given myself a good talking to and am committed to get back on track after this blip. So far I have;
1. 4-6 days OT scheduled for April. There will be some extra Nursery payments, but overall it will have a positive effect.
2. Ebay Items will be re-listed (spring/summer children's clothes).
3. Have been accepted for a mystery shopper task in April, which will be £17 in the pot.
4. Need to plant some lettuce and pea seeds to try to reduce food spends (never grown veg before, so fingers crossed).
5. LO Birthday day out was paid for last year and I will be making the gift (a teepee for her bedroom) on the sewing machine. So will just need to buy the fabric and poles from wholesalers.
6. £1.16 claimed from Quidco, £5 M&S voucher claimed from Swagbucks and up to £34.85 on Onepoll.
Day at home today and apart from needing some stock cubes and a stamp, there will be no other spends.2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Happy Mother's Day to all x
This weekend was spent getting back on track with finances. Yesterday I had £30 given to me for something I had overpaid a family member for, I posted a small eBay sale that was made on Friday and found a few quid of spare change in a winter coat that needed to be washed
Next month is looking positive with at least 4 days overtime booked and am looking to add another 1-2 days more.
Grocery shopping and some dry cleaning to collect tomorrow for OH, but I have set a target of at least 4 NSD's this week.
3 More eBay listings to be found and put online to keep momentum going.2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -

Good Morning!
Two days away from payday and I am getting excited about being back on the right side of the overdraft
I have had another Ebay sale this morning, bringing me to a grand total of 2! :rotfl: - so that's a combined total of £10.71 for the MFW pot.
I submitted some work postage expenses yesterday and have added the £4.71 to the mortgage piggy and followed this with picking up some shampoo and conditioner using Boots points :money:
However, Onepoll seems to have stalled now I am nearing my target - has anyone else had this?Soooooo clooose!
Today will consist of cleaning, entertaining LO and putting a second coat of 'one coat' gloss on a door frame (one coat my Ar**!).
I hope you have a great day!2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0
