  • I love my griddle..I make hushpuppies, corn fitters, drop scones, potato / fish cakes, sausages etc etc..Nearly everything goes onto the griddle and I also use mine with my BBQ and open fire.

Remember not to wash it if it's been well seasoned - it just needs rinsing with hot water. I have two cast iron frying pans and they're especially good for fried breakfasts!
  • We cook a lot on ours - tuna, steak, chicken breast, sausages, bacon etc on the griddle side and if it has a flat plate then eggs, pancakes... you name it. They are sooo versatile and you can cook almost anything on it. If it is a really heavy one then hang on to it as most of the ones these days are not quite as heavy as the old ones.
  • Tesco often have their cast iron riddle pan on species, but it is a ridged one.

We have a cast iron flat griddle for camping which came from France which is great.
Otherwise car boot sales are your friend! We've bought three or four old manky cast iron pans which have cleaned up beautifully.

A friend in France cooks 'grilled' chicken breasts quickly and economically on a cast iron griddle on the hob. I've never tried this but am tired of having to run the oven for 2 chicken breasts, never mind clean it afterwards.

Please can anyone explain what I should look for in a griddle pan or recommend any in particular? How do I look after the pan (I believe washing up liquid is a no no? so how do you clean it after the chicken?) I live in a small flat so am looking for a small one (round probably) to use on the gas hob. The most people I would ever cook for is 4.

I would want to cook grilled veg on it as well for a vegetarian so no traces of chicken.

last question: is there a good website where I can get griddle recipes?
    many thanks
