Victim of road rage, damage to car?

Wow.. I just been to a few body shops and it's not looking good. One quoted me £590 and another has quoted me £997.05 plus VAT.
The problem is that the dent is right near another panel so they are going to have to repaint that as well. I didn't realise it was going to cost this much.0 -

Have not read all the replies here, but this reminds me of an incident 8 years ago. I was driving uphill along a local bypass, single carriageway with a "Slow Traffic" lane on the uphill part. At the top is a staggered junction to right and left, with very short filter lane to each junction turn off. A lunatic driver came screaming up behind me and attempted to use the right filter lane to overtake me. I knew that there is always oncoming traffic that is hidden by a dip at the top, and I knew that there would be a very bad collision at the top if he overtook. So I accelerated to make him pull in. He followed me over the hill and into the dip, flashing and shaking his fist, then overtook me, just missing a huge oncoming truck, which flashed him and blew his air horn. The lunatic then waved his fist at me and pointed to a layby coming up. I assumed that he wanted me to have a fight in the layby, so I gave a thumbs-up and he pulled in, at which point I sailed on by and accelerated away as he got out of his car, waving his fists at me.
Ther was no way I was going to stop: I have been disabled for many years and he looked to be at least 20 years younger and much bigger. About 500 yards away, there was a roundabout with 4 possible exits. I took the one that led to another roundabout with 3 exits and went home. I mentally wished him good luck in ever finding me again, but I had his reg number and reported it to the police, who did nothing. He would also have had problems tracing my car again, because I had arranged to change it in 3 weeks' time.
I find these characters who indulge in road rage, to be the worst kind of road users. Some of them, like the barmpot I mention, will probably have strokes and/or heart attacks, thanks to their ability to get so worked up.
OP, I sincerely hope that you come out of this with a result beneficial to yourself. Just content yourself with the knowledge that you are a much better human being that the moron who used your car a a punchbag.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

The police didn't take any action against you, either? Lucky you.
Your action was deliberately dangerous. His did not carry that element of intent.0 -

I'm inclined to agree, if they want to pass, just let them go, winding people up is either going to be bad for you OR bad for some innocent party. Just imagine if the guy had actually collided with that truck.......
And also, letting these idiots go, sometimes karma comes back to get them anyway.
