Bridal Party Dilemma

Usually the bride's family/friends sit on one side and the groom's on the opposite. I can't for the life of me think which way round though. Can't remember if groom's family sit on the same side the groom stands or opposite way round. Nowadays perhaps more people are friends of both, as they've married later on or met at Uni, so would sit on either.I'm going totally off topic here and isn't aimed at answering the op, buzz is just a general question.
How do you pick which side of the church you sit on, if an usher usually does this, does the usher fill up as they go? I usually just sit whatever, on whichever side.
I'm thinking back to my wedding and everyone was mixed too. Family sat both sides, I think dad was sat next to mum on my right facing the registrar but I think my brother sat on the left to get a better view.
I stood to hubby's right and I know I looked over at my DD and she was about 3rows back as she said she liked the back of my dress ha ha. So we were all well spaced out.0 -

Thank you. I didn't know this.
As we swapped sides at our wedding I bet some guests were wondering what to do :rotfl:Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Isn't it amazing how many "pickles" people get into about weddings ! Just do what you want, its your wedding. Have six best men and ten bridesmaids if that is what makes you both happy. Or have absolutely none. It really doesn't matter at all. Just have a lovely and happy day.0

So many couples try to do "what is right" rather than do "what they want". It is your wedding, anyone who is going to feel hurt or left out by such trivia isn't worth bothering about, family or not.0

OH had a best man, I had a MOH, my sons (6yo) carried the rings, my daughter (2yo) was supposed to to be a flower girl but didn't fancy it on the day. Everyone was seated when I walked in so I guess they managed to sort themselves out just fine without ushers!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

It is your wedding, just do whatever you want to. The way you have done it sound just fine to me, don't forget the most important thing is to enjoy your day xx0
