How do they actually "Enforce" the contract?

Do you mean how do Virgin Media enforce it? If you break the contract early you have to pay an early exit fee based on the services and months left in the minimum term. The max amount is £240 from what I have read.

If you want virgin to burden the cost of moving your services its fair for them to expect your custom for a fixed time

You can cancel free of charge within 30 days of the price rise email .

The prices have just gone up - last date to cancel was 31st October. I know this because we've just taken advantage of ending the contract. We're in the final processes of buying so unsure of a moving date but we know there is no Virgin where we are going so when the letter came through we jumped at the chance of saving the money.

Hopefully our moving date comes through soon as we'll be relaying on phone data and hotspotting until then >.<

My advice would be, come moving time, stump up the cancellation fee then join another ISP via TopCashback or Quidco and use the cashback to lessen the blow of the termination fee.
  • Thanks for all the help and advice.

Unforuntaley had missed that 31 October cut off date, but the disconnections team we're very helpful and after a couple of calls, one to the disconnections department and then another to the moving team I managed to get a good deal of £29pm on a 12 month contract. For the exact same services I get now.

Come November 2017, I'll be cancelling straight away and switching to another provider.
