Sky "Glitch" 50% Off Till 2021?

First time poster, so hello to everyone!
The reason for posting now is I've just had one of those "too good to be true" moments with Sky.
Background to the tale is that I followed MSE advice around 9 months ago and cancelled my Sky package, upon which a week or so later I was offered 50% off for 10 months with no contract. That promotion was due to expire a month from today, so I rang up again to cancel.
The adviser I spoke to, after putting me on hold for a minute or so, said there'd been a glitch on their system and as a result a number of customers had been accidentally given the 50% off promotion until 2021. So basically I've got 50% off for 5 years with no contract, providing I don't change my package at any time in that period.
Now excuse me for being cynical, but I'm a firm believer that if something sounds too good to be true it usually is. But I'm not sure what the catch is, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows what the real story is?

The catch is that once they get around to rectifying their error to match the offer you were given, they will do so. I would expect them to sort it out before too long.0

Forgot to add, they said they will honour the deal as it's an error on their part. So it won't be revoked at any stage, so I'm told!0

But a price rise will come along as its in the T&C .0

...and some staff tell porkies of varying degree, so if there is no recording of the conversation, Sky may deny the offer was made; rather like the recent 60% offer that people were told was 'an error' when they tried to apply.0

....A few months ago,I think I saw that some Sky subscribers had been offered a 5 year deal -but if I remember rightly it was 33% ?
So it sounds like some Sky advisers have managed to mix up the two deals.
@rumberger -I would ask for the "guarantee" in writing!!0
