Amazon locking out non Prime customers

I think they're being a little bit sneaky by doing this but I won't give in and get Prime.
Why do you think that they are being sneaky?
People who have paid for Amazon prime occasionally get offered special deals that non members don't get and as these people are in effect, part of a club, why shouldn't this be the case?
It's no different to Tesco Clubcard holders getting sent discount vouchers or any of the other special offers for members of other various loyality schemes.0 -

There is a very big difference....Tesco don't charge you £79/year to get their vouchers!0 -

Irrespective of having to pay or not, prime members and Clubcard members are both part of a "club" and those clubs give incentives and special deals to their members.
There are plenty of similar examples.
Tastecard (if they are still in operation). You pay for membership and then get discounts at various restaurants.
The National trust. You pay for an annual membership and get discounts on entry to their sites and special offers that non members don't get offered.0 -

You used Tesco as an example and said it was no different from Amazon. Your example was very poor. Your Tastecard and NT examples are comparable.0 -
But surely you can agree that both Amazon Prime and Tesco Clubcard are membership only schemes which both offer incentives and special offers, offers and incentives for which non members are excluded.
What difference does it make if you have to pay to be a member or if that membership is free if the end result is the same?0 -

The difference is £79/year...that's why. If it's no different show me how to get lifetime Amazon Prime for free.0 -

Amazon 'locking out' non prime customers has saved me a fortune over the last year or two. Now I store in my basket and generally end up cancelling the items whereas I used to just buy on a whim if the price was right. Will be taking out the Prime free trial later this month but only to cover any Christmas purchases.
Here you go, OP, only £9.99 from here https://www.feedem.co.uk/small-animal-c129/small-animal-bedding-c163/paper-c167/fibrecycle-back-2-nature-small-animal-bedding-30ltr-p17330Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

It's £3.50 cheaper for an Amazon Prime user to buy this0 -

Surely if anything paying club members deserve more benefits though.
Not that I really agree with the prime only products, as a prime customer it seems a bit petty to lock people out of buying hamster food or whatever.0
