Things are not going well I'm afraid, I was told (by someone in 'executive relations) that the car parks adhere to the EQ act, I asked for them to confirm this, unfortunately they have!
Before I continue this 'saga' can someone please tell me if planning permission has to be sort before ANPR cameras are installed even if on private land?0 -
They told you the parks comply then they confirmed they do.
Just what did they say? Was It "I have checked with Joe Blogs and he says so" Or did they show an official document?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
He said, "the car park does adhere to the Equality Act........"0

the car park might but they dont due to their current parking rules which dont allow extra time for blue badge holders or disabled people , so you seem to be concentrating on the wrong questions
as for car park compliance , they would need to demonstrate something like this
which I am sure they may well do , same as smart did"They should make reasonable adjustments such as dedicated bays and signage/meters at appropriate height."
read that other thread and read what I told them about the matter , as regards to the fact that under SMART there were no time limits on blue badge holders, plus under the EA2010 they have to make reasonable adjustments , so in your case (and mine) it is allow extra time , where local authorities like mine allow one hour extra compared to able bodied people , or more
and as I keep reiterating, they have offered me a listing on their global whitelist , this isnt hearsay , I have it in writing , from head office , by email , to me personally , which I accepted , in writing , by email back , with the VRM details
parking eye do not allow anything extra on parking time for us compared to an able bodied driver, so no "reasonable adjustment" at all from their PPC
so yes they are correct , the car park meets the EA2010, but not their obligations to you under the act when it comes to the parking rules , not unless they were to offer either the same extra time as the local authority , or the 3 hours we normally get as a bare minimum or more , or being added to the global whitelist for total exemption
you will find they also have wide doorways and disabled toilets etc which also meet the EA2010 , IT IS THEIR FAILINGS ON ALLOWING YOU EXTRA TIME THAT IS THE CRUX OF THE MATTER, NOT THE DISABLED FACILITIES ONSITE
not sure who you are emailing at head office but try telling them to contact Kirstie or preferably Steve Barrow in their head office customer service team who know all about it
ands as I understand it , they need planning permission for their PPC cameras, and advertising consent for their PPC signs (if larger than a certain size) - Failure of the latter is a criminal offence.

Not disagreeing with any posts re Equality Act, but anyone wanting to spend more than two and a half hours in one supermarket defeats me.0

It's warm, it has a cafe for breakfast/lunch and it means my heating/lighting bills are reduced. It beats the library only because of the cafe.0 -

So by your admission above, you don't need the extra time for shopping but for "social activities" and to save money? Seems like you are stretching the disabled card to me and sympathy draining fast.0 -
