So Trump won and Hilary lost.
As the winner we have to say that the Republicans chose a winning candidate who ran a winning campaign..
The Democrats chose a loosing candidate who ran a loosing campaign.
So who should we blame for Trump winning?

There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Hilary won the popular vote. It was the rigged election system that chose Donald J TrumpChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

I dont think its down to a person, I think its down to western leaders not understanding their people
Just because people hold certain views in London / New york, doesnt mean the same views are held in further out places. People that reside here still get a vote, and in large numbers
The Brexit outcome has probably shown many voters in parts of the world what can actually happen0 -
I thought a good chunk of the Republicans were actively against Trump?
As for who to 'blame', he tapped into a load of people who are seeing things change and not to their benefit. As it had been happening under a Democrat President/continued and they felt Obama hadn't delivered on his promises, then why would they vote for more of the same.
As the people who vote will cover a wide spectrum, I guess some totally believe that he will change everything and America will be all shiny and wonderful and bluebirds will tweet, and others will think, lets give it a whirl, can't be worse than the last bloke.
Personally from the little I know of American politics, neither of them looked fantastic, but Hillary seemed OK to me.0 -
I don't think that Hilary is very charismatic but then again the "Trumpster "????.
IMO it was a horrible campaign from both sides not won on policies but personality and almost a protest vote. We don't want more of the same so the only alternative is etc.
We thought that the UK would have a tough time trying to heal after the divisions with Brexit but gosh the usa will be in tatters with a majority of voters having a government they did not want.
I genuinely hope that his advisers manage to talk some sense and to tame some of his views. As he once said something along the lines of ..." gay men are not straight people who need counseling and simply to find the right woman. "Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
I reckon they voted for a change.
If you are in the Democrat party, and you recognise that people are sick of the current to the point you want change, then you *dont* put forward someone like Clinton.
She embodies the status quo, like it or not.0 -

His acceptance speech was a good start, but will it last? I hope so.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
And striking a conciliatory tone with other world powers rather than being despised and despising another world nuclear power (Russia), probably a good thing Hillary lost. We might see co-operation in Ukraine and Syria now, as someone with first person experience (not much) of what's going on in Ukraine I see the election of Trump as a positive for the world in terms of conflict.0

She was the worse candidate, trouble is the Democrats had no one else to choose in her place anyway, this election was always going to be unwinnable for the Democrats.
Here are all the Trump campaign films, after watching you wouldn't want to vote for her either-

The fear is that the new U.S. president-elect will choose warm ties with Moscow over the exasperation of supporting Ukraine, a country he described during the campaign as a “mess.”
Apart from the Ukraine, I imagine the Baltic states will be rather nervous also. Wouldn't be too surprised if Putin starts stirring in the interest of various 'Russian minorities'.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0
