Silver Savers can currently get 6.40% Fixed for 12 months - Instant access and no penalties - from Coventry.

Could be useful, especially if interest rates have peaked ...:undecided

Unfortunately I am not in the silver age bracket ;)
Noobie (not so :D) trying to make loads a dosh - please bear with all my questions  Thanks :D

Is this account better than Sainsbury's?

Depends what you want to use it for. Sainsbury's apparently allows on line transfers out to multiple accounts, so good for drip feeding regular savings accounts. B&B apparently only allows you to transfer out to your nominated account, so drip feeding a regular saver account from B&B could mean 4 days loss of interest instead of 2.
  • I applied Wed. Account still not listed as of yet and I am already a customer and registered for internet banking. I recieved an email on Wed saying thanks for opening it tho.

ISA transfer out of Northern Rock or B&B Pauli?

Money out of B&B! My opinion is were in the beginning of the end of the "housing market boom". But believe there will be a more gradual slowdown, apart from the buy-to-let market, where I see a lot of WEAK buy to let investors defaulting (very fickle market) affecting B&B seriously over next quarter.

Until then I'll make most use of their new 6.4% account ;)

with sainsburys, you can nominate several a/cs, probably B&B only 1(to pay to)
You can nominate as many as you like. I have a dozen current accounts linked to my B&B savers.

I will be moving my money out of Sainsburys into this and earn an extra 0.15%.
This move will cost you 292 days to recoup.
If you then take the money out of the B&B saver after only a year, the gross gain of this move will have been 28p for every £1000.

With this new 6.4% account you can nominate only 1 external bank account to pay into or receive money from.
