Well,i can't fault them, but then i did already have an account with them online which has helped .Set up the new account this morning and checked just now,all up and running so have just instructed them to transfer from the bank into the new account.Could not have been easier although they are running slow, obviously very busy, and not surprising!!
  • Just called B&B to find out if their website is normally as bad as this but its due to a certain Martin Lewis mentioning them on Radio2 that has caused the website to slow down :j

As I type, they are adding a new server to speed things up and hopefully I have gained a new MSE user in the guy I spoke to on the phone, sorry I can't remember your name but welcome to MSE ;)
  • Yes, must say I can't fault them. Applied on line yesterday morning (not an existing customer) and this morning received a new User ID in the post!

This is a bit confusing, as the letter says:-
"Thank you for your recent communication relating to your eSavings account.

Further to your request, I can confirm that your User ID has now bee reset and is as follows:- *********

If you have also requested a Password reset then this will be sent under separate cover.
    Blah blah blah.

Now I didn't request anything. I was just awaiting the welcome pack. Anyway logged on with this new User ID and had to enter a new password and hey presto there is my nice new shiney account!!

Info addict,i think they send a pack requesting I.D. if they cannot verify you on line, and want you to send documents.Although the welcome pack may still arrive, later on ,but i have dealt with Bradford and Bingley for many years, got shares from them when they converted, and cannot remember ever having any problems.I wanted to get this set up ready to move Northern Rock's savings should there be a hint of any more trouble!!

people panicing again .... personally do believe they will have serious problems but not for weeks to come, hence why I've already started ISA transfer out but opened up the marketing beating 6.4% internet saver account and deposited monies in

ISA transfer out of Northern Rock or B&B Pauli?
  • Is this account better than Sainsbury's?
Noobie (not so :D) trying to make loads a dosh - please bear with all my questions  Thanks :D

Is this account better than Sainsbury's?

It's no different operationally, except that Sainsburys pay £6.25 for every £100 invested for a year and B&B pays £6.40 per £100 invested, less tax at 20%.
  • So it would be better then since interest is higher?

I am assuming - if I have read the site correctly - there are no interest penalties for making any number of withdrawals from the account?

Silver Savers can currently get 6.40% Fixed for 12 months - Instant access and no penalties - from Coventry.

Could be useful, especially if interest rates have peaked ...:undecided

That is correct,no penalties at all.And for anyone under 60 it must be one of the best interest rates going at the moment.I can't tie my money up,much as i would like to get a better rate,as i want to use up my ISA allowance next year ,as a tax payer.
