    But the car with the dashcam has driven off by the time the OP got back to their car and drove off...

    The point is that the car behind could use a dashcam (if they had one) to get the plate of the car in front and claim she reversed into him due to the van coming the other way (obviously would have to hide the dash cam footage proving it was his fault) and all a moot issue as OP has video footage of him driving off etc so it won't come to that
