What dribble are you posting here, Seriously the self righteous mob on this forum that believe what they write is only the correct way of thinking and doing things, A stupid post above and I cannot even be bothered to go into the details as to why it is stupid simply because you will come back with further dribble.

You've taken a post out of context, misunderstood it and what everyone is trying to tell you and you're making yourself look like a bit of a tool.

Re-read the thread and maybe you'll understand what is going on.

Can you tell us what you decided to do? To me, the initial police report already leaves a trail, so you might as well disclose it to the insurance company (especially if there is any damage, both now and in the future).

As for the incident itself, without any proof this will ultimately be hard to prove. With no reg plate (from what I can tell) and only some minimal phone-cam footage, there isn't much proof on anything. But as insurance companies will argue, they need to know everything (even if only to use it against you)

It may be pointless arguing with this guy (check out his other posts/sig/and use of "dribble"??)

Maybe better to leave him to plough on (without food!)

No because the car reversed and drove off itself....

And that's the car with the dashcam in your scenario, do keep up.

There is only one person acting stupidly and posting "dribble" here.
How about simply posting an apology to others admitting that you either misread or misunderstood the post referring to the car causing the accident possibly having a dash cam fitted.

However, I won't hold my breath waiting.
  • So my point stands as to the fact of you stating having a dash cam would have helped the OP here as it clearly would not have due them being hit in the rear and then leaving the car to chase on foot.
You are totally correct in saying that having a forward facing dashcam wouldn't have helped the OP and if you care to read the posts again, you will find that I never made any mention of a camera helping the OP.
Every other poster apart from you seems to have fully understood that the post in question was clearly referring to the other vehicle (the vehicle that hit the OP's car) having a camera.
  • Just for info, you can get forward and rear facing dash cams.

    Hey guys,

Thanks very much for the replies, really appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

I know this is old but just wanted to close the loop incase anyone ends up in the same situation and reads this.

I drove around and dug to find CCTV cameras on nearby roads to see if I could get his car. No avail. Nothing from the police either.

As I said it doesn't look like there was any damage. I took it to a bodyshop and it was a very quick inspection, but he said it looks like nothing was damaged.

I appreciate the advice on If I follow this up with an official police report then my premiums are sure to go up and that's another thing I'll have to declare (and get priced on). Any mark is a black mark and I'm a big believer in that.

Legally, I only NEED to report an incident if SOMEONE or SOMETHING was damaged. Since I'm not doing any whiplash nonsense, and my car is fine, I have no obligation and nothing to gain. I'm going to leave it for now. When the weather gets a bit nicer I'm going to do a full inspection myself and if nothing is out of place I'll "Get on with my life" as someone said haha.

The car seems to drive fine so I'll take the ignorence is bliss :-)

    Thanks again guys! Safe driving

FYI - I do have a front dashcam as I drive on the M25 and that's littered with idiots. I've witnessed 2 accidents in 8 months of driving on that hell of a motorway

    What makes you think that?
You have to report 'incidents' to insurers. This is most certainly something you have to report. If you don't it's because you choose to, not because you don't need to.

Incidentally under the circumstances I'd keep shut

You do realise the police will have already created an incident and recorded your details don't you?
