  • Your right about there being a fail. However, the fail wasn't in what I posted!
The reason for my comment about a dashcam was in direct response to an earlier comment about the driver of the car that hit the OP not having time to take their registration before speeding off and it was this driver that I stated could have obtained the registration details from a dashcam if they had one fitted.

Dash cam generally face forwards in cars to look at what is front of them, Your point about picking up a rear registration is pure nonsense, Some may have two cameras on board one facing each way but I would hazard a guess this is such small minority of people.

So my point stands as to the fact of you stating having a dash cam would have helped the OP here as it clearly would not have due them being hit in the rear and then leaving the car to chase on foot.

No, it's not. Not if you've got hold of the right end of the stick and clearly you haven't.

    Taking a pragmatic approach:

    1. Police won't do anything as there is no injury and it is not an easy to solve crime (or even worthwhile in their point of view).
    2. If not much damage to your car, just move on with life. The other car is likely to have much more damage compared to yours.
    3. Don't inform your insurer unless you want to claim.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

So in very simple terms here that you may be able to get you head around as follows :-

Dash cam in car (clue here is dash cam, THEY FACE FORWARDS) hit in rear will obviously not pick up rear view number plate of car that hit the OP, This is my point about dash cam being no good in this instance.

Clear enough for you or will you still fail to comprehend a rather straight forward fact that I am stating as per your very usual stance on here.

The point you are arguing about is wrong because you misunderstood. No-one is saying the OP could get the reg of the driver that hit her.

If the driver of the car that hit the OP had a dash cam, they could get the reg off that dash cam and then make a claim against her (saying she braked suddenly or reversed into him or that she drove off and he waited - obviously he'd have to delete the clip from his camera after)

Oh and plenty of people have 2 dashcams, less common than the front facing one, but having one in the rear is not unheard of

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

erm...he was making a point that the guy who crashed into the back of the OP might have a dashcam so would have the reg of the car he crashed into (OPs car) and therefore could claim the OP didn't stop and provide the reg plate of the OPs car.

    Do you understand now?

So then they would have dashcam footage of the OP driving off.

What dribble are you posting here, Seriously the self righteous mob on this forum that believe what they write is only the correct way of thinking and doing things, A stupid post above and I cannot even be bothered to go into the details as to why it is stupid simply because you will come back with further dribble.

You've still got the wrong end of the stick.

I'll spell it out for you.

The car that ran into the back of the OP has a forward facing dash cam?

Prior to the impact it will show the back of the ops car. Funnily enough that's where they put the rear number plate.

    Got it now?

No because the car reversed and drove off itself....
