The Crucial BX100 250GB SSD in question is just over a year old, in July I used it for a new build.
i5-6500 and 16GB ram with Gigabyte motherboard and Windows 10.
The SSD was wiped and formatted GPT to make best use of the new UEFI BIOS.
I've been very pleased with speed and bench marked the SSD when first built.

I first noticed a problem when Waterfox started taking 5 secs to load, previously it had been instant, all other programs are now slower to open.
Malwarebytes, ADWCleaner all clear.
CPU temperature 25° C, fan and heatsink both fine.
Everything looks as it should be in Task Manager.
Looking in Resource Monitor, at idle CPU slows to 800MHz, open program, it rises to 3.2GHz, as expected.
TRIM is enabled and working, I've disabled/enabled it also run it manually.
wPrime207 now gives 15 secs instead of 10 secs when first built.
CrystalDisk benchmark now.

I'm quite happy to reinstall, the majority of data is on a second disk.
I'm interested in theories as to what has happened.
Move along, nothing to see.

How's the memory on the device? Could windows suddenly be paging for some reason?

I can't see anything unusual in Task Manager.
I did have updates a couple of days ago, but rebooted a couple of times to make sure they were properly installed in case they were causing the problem.
Currently Waterfox is using the most ram @ 290MB.
System is using 16% cpu and Waterfox 12%

For my sins I've been using the standard Defender for the time being. Defender was running with both tests.

Try running this and see if it comes up with anything, also use to check for latest drive FW. It's up to you if you want to run the Momentum Cache feature.
