As if by magic, they connected me yesterday, and I now have 50Mbps broadband!

But, in doing so, they disconnected the landline. I reported this and BT told me an engineer would fix it at the cabinet by 5pm tomorrow and that they would not need access to my house.

Early this afternoon, an Openreach engineer called me at work to say he was at my house and needed to get in to do the work, which obviously confused me, and he said he was expecting someone to be home. I told him what my expectation was. He said he would work from the cabinet, but when I asked him to make sure he didn't affect the broadband connection and to test the broadband after fixing the phone line to make sure it still worked, he said he couldn't guarantee that the broadband wouldn't be affected and would not agree to test it. I told him to not go into the cabinet at all, not to do any work, and to leave immediately.

I called BT to complain about this. They told me that it will all still be fixed and everything will work tomorrow. I asked them how they know that given I had directly cancelled the appointment with Openreach. They put me on hold to enquire with Openreach, but the note from the engineer hadn't been updated yet, so I expect a call back later today or early tomorrow.

So, now I have lost more confidence that the infrastructure can adequately provide me telephone AND broadband.

    Why is this so frustrating???
