I don't see what the problem is, you did not have to sneak around the next day until midday.

No wonder I prefer living alone, no-one telling me how to act in my house.
  • All very strange. Did any of this actually happen?

So is it you or your OH who is 35?

    What's with the 3rd degree ?

Not a post has this poster made that contradicts what she's saying now in this post

I quote my response to her answer (which she thanked) :-

Well, the reason I'm asking is that often a younger newer partner is more casual about how visitors behave in someone else's house - and to me, this would appear to be the case. Think you are right - next time it is suggested that they stay at yours, your respone should be "no, sorry, no room".

This has made me chuckle all day. I wonder which part of this or my previous posts you find fantastical? For the life of me I can't fathom what is beyond belief ? !

That's a bit extreme - how many people are silent in their own house after their young children have gone to bed?
    All normal people.

Really? So adult conversations, no TV, no music, no guests round? I don't find that normal at all.

Children don't need silence to sleep. Obviously, music blasting out or people shouting and screaming is not conducive to sleep, but I would expect that low level family activity, not silence, is the norm in most homes.

I dont understand why you agreed to let them stay till the Tuesday (from the 5th to the 8th. Surely one night in a party mood would have sufficed).

I would've gone down at 3am and told them in no uncertain times to shut the heck up or go out and party somewhere else. Why should you creep about in your own house??? Carry on with your life and your routine, THEY should be the ones bending to your rules.

Give an inch, some people take a mile!!
