Vaping - e-cigarettes

I know about passive smoking and am only too glad that no-one is allowed to smoke anywhere indoors these days:T and, obviously, haven't allowed anyone to smoke in my home for years now.

I don't know what the position is about vaping though - as I now have a friend that does this and who just did so in my home the other day without asking if that was acceptable to me.

So - two possibilities there about what to think about that and I don't know which one to think, either:
a. Not a problem to me and she knows that - let her go ahead and do so.
OR
b. I could find myself doing a bit of passive smoking/having leftover residue inside the air of my own home - so I'll have to tell her to stop if she does so again.

Is vaping safe for people nearby or no?

Google "vaping passive smoking". To me it is exactly the same as smoking and stinks as bad.

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.

Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

Has anyone got links to any research on this?
  • No research, but it's your home, I wouldn't vape without asking first.

    Nah, not believing that.

Definitely not as bad as passive smoking from normal cigarettes. As for the smell, it depends on the 'flavour' they are vaping; Marley vapes tobacco/nicotine version, and these don't smell.

But I would agree that it's rude to vape - regardless - in your house without at least asking first.

So you feel the same about vapour from coffee, tea, hot food etc?

Oh and exhaled breath, that's got vapour in it too.

Just to be on the safe side I think we should make people live outdoors and stay at least 2 metres apart.

Meanwhile back on planet earth, it's harmless but it's also rude for your visitor to do it without asking first.

It's not the same as smoking, it's not as bad and it doesn't smell as bad. I do hate some of the fruit stuff though.

I'd happily let my friends 'vape' at my home. If you're concerned, there are PG and VG vapes, ask your 'vaper' which they use, then look it up. Also there are different levels of nicotine in the e-liquids.

Saying that, I'd happily let my friends smoke in my home, I'll just open a window..no big deal. Apart from de ganja...I'm allergic to the slightest whiff of it!

I do have links of the pros and cons somewhere, I'll look for them x

Various bodies/reports also disagree with you, for example Public Health England (August 2015), the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (February 2016), the Royal College of Physicians (April 2016), and from Public Health England again in July 2016
