Vaping - e-cigarettes

Thanks everyone.
Have had a look at those links and am drawing the overall conclusion that the risk of passive smoking is low - but not non-existent.
So my decision is that I don't wish people to vape near me if I can help it and will certainly not allow it in my home. Even a low level of health risk to me within my own home (where I am supposed to be totally safe) is unacceptable to me. Also - it looks like there would be some discolouration to my decor and that is also unacceptable to me.
I thought it must be rather rude of this friend to just "light up" without asking if it was okay - as they can see that I'm a non-smoker and very health-aware. If it happens again - then I will (politely) inform them I don't allow it in my home.0 -

Based on that logic I assume you also won't allow anyone to consume hot meals or drinks in your home either.
I entirely agree with you though that it's your home therefore your rules, I would certainly consider any visitor to my home who started vaping without checking it's OK first extremely rude and I suspect it would lead to a free and frank exchange of views.0 -

Wow. I thought I was harsh! I'm allergic to perfume, but I wouldn't dream of sniffing people's armpits to check! Well, not anymore.
I'm also veggie, I hate meat stuff, but I wouldn't stop my mates from getting a meat type takeaway and eating it in my home!
Vaping doesn't cause discolouration to decor, sunlight does more damage!
Walking past a bus is probably more damaging.
Each to their own though. x0 -

If you're concerned, there are PG and VG vapes, ask your 'vaper' which they use, then look it up.
Nearly correct, to my knowledge there are no Juices that are completely PG or VG (Poly glycol, Vegetable Glycol) better quality juices have higher VG, cheap juices have higher PG, most are around 50%/50% with 75% VG 25% PG for the Sub Ohm equipment, meaning big clouds of vape.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
I wouldn't have anyone vaping in my house exactly the same as I wouldn't let someone smoke in there.
Personally that is just because I am not a fan of vaping in general. I can't be doing with the whole, I've given up smoking aren't I good followed 3 seconds later by pulling an imitation cig out of their pocket and vaping!
If you have given up then you have stopped everything!!
I know too many people who vape and the second it stops working for whatever reason buy cigs to keep them going till they get it fixed.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -

That's why I said look it up! x0 -
I sometimes think that vaping is looked upon as "the new cool" and youngsters who take it up could well be storing up health problems in the future.
I started smoking as a teenager when it was "cool" and paid the price 50 years later with a lung tumour.
Oh, and ANY strong smell now makes me choke to the extent that my social life is severely restricted due to overuse of perfume, aftershave etc. when in social gatherings. My closest friends are aware of this and make allowances by not using their usual fragrances when we are together. Air fresheners, strong cleaners, fabric conditioners - things that people use without thinking can be torture for people with damaged lungs.0 -
Well I'm not young or cool!
My Mother never smoked or allowed it near her. She died far too young. My Gran smoked like a trooper, in her 80s when she went..bless her. She died of every cancer except for lung cancer. I have the hospital notes to show.
People are going to be affected and offended by stuff, whatever happens. Smoke, bonfires, traffic, ecigs, tobacco, perfume, pets, essential oils or candles!
Live for the day. x0 -
I am firmly in the school of thought that there will be a genetic element to peoples respective health - BUT we can all do our best to look after our health and will improve our "lot" in that respect, compared to the level of health we would have if we didn't do so.
That's based on coming from a VERY unhealthy family with a lot of inherited type illness (as well as some self-induced illness/work-related illness).
Anyways...friend concerned came round again and went to "light up" vaping again and was politely asked not to do so in my own home because of the element of "passive smoking". They disputed that vaping would cause bystanders to "passively smoke" - but have accepted it is my home, therefore my rules.0
