  • Another £2 in last night from winnings at the dogs. Played about £14 on the races we were there for, won £7 back. Great night with friends and I do love a flutter, never more than a couple of quid (depending how I'm betting) but mostly £1 and 50p stakes.

Have decided I'm not going to update a running total on this challenge this year - that way I keep the suspense until opening day next year.

£3 potted this evening. No more of the new £5 notes have crossed my path in the last few days.....they seem to be like the proverbial buses, as some days I will get two or three and then none for ages! I will be saving as many as possible:money:

I have a jewellery box with 4 small drawers which contain ribbons, old bits of costume jewellery and bits and pieces.

Imagine my surprise when I looked into the top drawer and found a £20 note, one £2 coin and 4 £1 coins.

The only thing I can think of is that I put the money there several months ago intending to put it in my sealed pot once I'd retrieved it (I don't keep it on display) My memory is getting worse!

    Now potted.

A very good Afternoon to you all SPCers! A chilly'n but gorgeous. I do hope everyone's had a great weekend and will enjoy the following week. Maybe not :( To all those suffering from colds or any other ailments or who are simply not at your best; wrap yourselves in these cuddly {{{{hugs}}}} and get well soon.

Ooooooh jakes-mum! Well you've really gone and done it now, oh dear. Yaaaaay, I'm sooooo excited for you as it's now that you can really look forward to it, and at such a bargain price!!!!!!:j:T:j Don't get in too much of a state about hotels, it'll all fall into place and you'll get the hotel that's perfect for you! :happyloveThe insurance, car hire etc shouldn't take a great deal of time, and knowing you you'll soon have it all booked and will be able to........relax! Thrilled to bits for you all!!

I wonder if other people find chasing their target difficult when they're not sure how much they are potting/have already potted, or is it just me?
Sue - Thank you for adding my target figure

Ahh Antomac, thank goodness you've mentioned your Target! No one else has said a thing so I was beginning to worry if my notice about them was only visible to me!! You're welcome btw.
Re your query about folk meeting their targets, I guess some may keep a running total of what they save in order to push ahead if necessary. If you need to get to your Target how about making a note of the £s you save but not coins so you can make sure you meet your Target and still get a surprise of the entire amount in November??! To be fair though a Target is only there (to my mind) to urge us to save as much as is possible; apart from the individual savers it doesn't matter IF you're unable to meet it, so never worry about that. Up to you from here on Ant, but all the best!! :D

Oooh, how exciting jakes-mum! Space for a little one???! ;)
I now have a part of my savings spreadsheet set up for visiting my cousin in Canada. No idea when it'll be, but if I don't start to save then I'll never get there.

Sorry Vicky, jakes-mum can't possibly take you as she's already promised to take me! Apparently she's reserved me a spot on the undercarriage!!:rotfl:
WOW! What a dream holiday to entice you to save really well this time round! Hubby & I wanted to go out there to friends a couple of years ago, but with me having the epilepsy they wanted up to a staggering £1,000 just for insurance!!!!!!! We were only going for 2 weeks not wanting a year's worth!!! So much to look ahead to for you and jakes-mum, you'll both have a ball!! Is it going to be an exciting year for all SPCers I wonder!!

It may have been cold weather wise up there, Lynne, but the pleasure you've enjoyed with your DS has obviously given you a great deal of inner warmth. I'm delighted to hear you've so enjoyed yourselves. All the best to him with life in the US! Another £10 well saved, but set to be cold again this week, sorry!

Ahh, the simple pleasures in life are so often the most meaningful, Miss D M, you thoroughly enjoy that well-deserved lie-in when it comes!
Good to hear you're wanting to keep your savings as a surprise, I don't blame you at all.

Would it work if you took the battery out?

Now there's a novel idea, mummytummy ....d'you know I'd never given that a thought!! :o:p

Even if things are difficult now, Jellyb, you've begun saving!! :j Save all you can when you're able and.....be proud of all you're achieving! From little acorns giant oak trees grow! :D

It's lovely to have you over with us, Hope, and I wish you all the very best in you being spot on with being debt-free by Hogmanay '17 and a savings Total of £500!!!!! Closing day is 2nd November!
Nearly ordered a takeaway last night as I had £18 in £1 coins but I stopped myself thinking that's another potential £18 for the pot. Haven't actually potted it yet, patiently waiting for payday on Wed just in case I end up needing to use it before that.

Congratulations swimminginaseaofdebt!!! :T It's holding back at times like that which really brings about the feelings of euphoria of successfully getting to grips with debt, saving as well!! :D Here's to it being a fantastic SPC 10!!!!

Poor you Saver-upper, toothache is a ghastly thing even more so when it's reoccurring. :( If you haven't seen your Dentist then why on earth not go and see what he's got to say about it?! Don't feel guilty at not doing much yesterday, it's not easy to do the everyday things when you're rough. At least you saved! I hope you soon feel so much better! :kisses3:

Good luck with your resolutions for the year, indigowarrior! Being frugal never hurt anyone, you only make gains - big ones! :D

Well spotted and potted, Louby, why not if no one else says anything! ;) You get your pot when you're ready IF you need one, if you can manage with something else then do so and save the cash.

Another fantastic amount saved, 32b3! :D

I'm pleased you enjoyed the races and your flutter, MrsShazbat, good for you if you like a flutter. Ah, going for the element of surprise for this year then and I don't blame you! ;)

Good potting hummingbird! I've not seen another new £5er either...thankfully. :T

Good to see you Thora. My word you've been very busy with saving, an amazing sum so far! Keep up the fantastic work!!

Well done Dizzy Imp, it all helps and better potted than spent!

Oh dear Diodiva, you presented yourself with a bit of a problem there! Well, if you think getting them with a stick will work then fine. If not you just might be forced to smash the blooming thing! :rotfl: Still, one way or tother it shouldn't present too much of a problem. Very well and quickly saved though I'll grant you that. Keep going at that rate and you'll be well happy in November!!!:D

Very well done Frogletina!! :j Who'd have thought you'd have found £20 in there!! Don't worry too much about your memory, you were probably thinking of something totally different at the time and in which case it's so easy to forget.

Have a good Monday, Potters. Feed those pots so very well! :D
