MrsShazbat my pot isn't as heavy this year compared to previous years, I've had to dip in it a few times which is something I don't like to do, for next years challenge I am either going to seal my pot so tight it'll take me a month to get into it or buy a large sealed tin :rotfl: I want to get back to how i used to do it and that's to seal the pot and no opening or dipping into it until opening day...

47 Days 'til opening time :D

48 then we start again :rotfl:

I only save £2s so I'm a bit limited. All other change goes in our giant Coke bottle whereas the sealed tin is mine. Last year it had a bit of paper money in it as well which helped the total up. The other thing is I use Quidco a lot, which means using my cards rather than cash so that restricts the chances of me getting any £2s back as well. I'm like the Queen, rarely use cash :rotfl:

Earlier this year I opened my sealed pot to take out my old £5 notes and also decided to take out my old £1 coins too. I replaced with other notes, coins - I'm mainly putting in £2 coins, new £1 coins and 50p's.

As the tin had been unsealed I looked in there today to see if I could use some of the notes in there rather than go to the cash point for my upcoming holiday and found I had less than £100 in notes. Didn't seem right at all.

I do have some money in the bank that will probably take my total up to around £500 but that is half what I had last year and I've only got 2 months to go.

Just had a call from my daughter. Her brother in law is doing a sponsored climb and she asked my yesterday if I would support him and wanted to know how much I could give. I said I would speak to my granddaughter who was going to sent it via one of these giving pages on the internet.

I've now been told that my daughter and husband have given £35, my granddaughter and her boyfriend have given £10, and to make it up to £70, which was the amount left to complete what he wanted to raise, my daughter decided my portion would be £25!

I was not amused. Is that mean of me? She said if it was too much she would put in more herself - I said forget it, it's done now. I now have to find where to pinch £25 from my budget and send it to her.

Have you managed to work out why your pot seems to be 'lighter' than you expected ? Have you borrowed something earlier ?

I do agree with you that being asked to sponsor/donate is fair enough but you shouldn't have been pushed into an amount - that is your decision. TBH I would have said I was only prepared to offer a much smaller amount - because you had already said you were going to speak with your GD yourself.

Pleased to read you had a fabdabadosy holibobs jakes-mum and that you all returned safely before the horrendous weather hit :D

I have put an IOU into my pot for £30. I didn't want to put cash in there this weekend as we go on our holibobs on Tuesday :j I can make it up when I return.

Hope you all have a lovely couple of weeks and take care of yourselves

Hope all is well in this land :)

I have just retuned from a holiday to Bulgaria, a new place never been on my radar, but happy with it, nice hotel and food, and of course weather.

I brought back some currency that I will change into coins to put tomorrow, I'm quite sad that I missed the launch of the £10 while I was away, not that I like the things, but I wanted to get my hands on one of the first in the bank, I suppose a few days late wont hurt....

Onwards and upwards another day dawns....

Back in the real world again - just :rotfl: Had a lovely cruise in the Baltic sea and visited some lovely new countries. Still feel like I'm swaying a bit and DH has come back with a stinking cold so is feeling very sorry for himself now we are back in work. I love going on holiday but I love coming home too - there's nothing like your own bed! :D

I have £4.11 to add to my pot today. Keep warm and dry everyone. :j

Ahh we had an amazing time Lynne, thank you :D So much so, I MAY have been having a sneaky look at costings to go back again :o

Oooo Westie, Bulgaria! How fab! I have yet to get my hands on a new tenner :( one will come my way soon no doubt. I am still royally miffed with Tesco who's self service till may have given me all my change in coins, rudely included 3 old £1's! like i want those!

Oh Siju, I would Loooooove to try a cruise! was it amazing? what countries did you stop at? I always wonder how warm it is at sea (I get horrifically cold as I can't control my own body temp) its one of those 'once the kids have flown' dreams hubby and I have :o

Potty news . . . Well £5 in £1 coins from Mr T's self service (nasty old £1 coins left in my purse and disposed of at another shop!) and 1 x £2 coin as well :D I also have another £2 coin in my purse for potting and some shrapnel as DH and I decided to have a coffee at the garden centre today :D I have also *banked* (in a manner of speaking as it was savings for holiday spending and the bill came in today) £410 and have updated my siggy accordingly (quite chuffed its not even opening month and i'm already over £2k in savings :j :j )

Hubby, Miss Lily and I are sneaking out for dinner tonight as Jake has decided to have tea at his mates grans house (a fellow coeliac so I know he's in good hands). He's become very independent now he goes to college and has a proper job, got a bit of empty nest syndrome over here :o . . . need to fill it with more holidays :D :rotfl:

It was amazing, thank you jakes-mum. We have done a few Med cruises and loved them so this one was a bit of dipping our toes in the water (pardon the pun!) We weren't sure how we would cope with the Baltic sea, but we should not have worried, it was absolutely fine. We started in Keil, Germany then stopped at Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallinn and St Petersbourg. The weather was good, mostly like the UK with sunny spells and rain but we weren't expecting to sunbathe! To be honest, you don't notice the weather on board. It's a great way to get a taste of new places without living out of a suitcase.

    Nothing to pot today - I haven't spent any money.......perhaps tomorrow :)
