GP wants us to leave his surgery as we have moved house

If you are outside their catchment they are not obliged to keep you, so if they have said no then you will have to change GP.
Think of it this way - you may be preventing the people that have moved to your old house from being registered at a surgery near their home, just for your own convenience. That's incredibly selfish. Find a new GP within 30 days & all of your records will be transferred over.0 -
Thanks Hollydays
I did write in my email to the practice manager that we don't need any house visits and we can manage as we stay near to the hospital.
So your plan is to stay with your current practice, not be eligible for home visits and waste valuable NHS time and resources by taking yourself to A&E instead?0 -
Please find yourself a new GP in your new catchment area, as this might also prevent people moving in your old area to get registered.

How long have you been with the current GP? How well do you know the GP/does the GP know you?
It might be worth making an appointmet and asking the GP him(her)self.
I know of a case where a friend moved just out of area and received the same information as you from the Practice Manager. However the GP overruled this and permitted the patient to stay on his list as he'd been treating him for many years.0 -
Taking up an appointment slot to discuss practice policies with the doctor himself is as selfish as it gets!
Your friend should have written him/her a letter. Not cost somebody else the opportunity to see the doctor, they don't exactly have a surplus of spaces these days!!0 -
I have to agree. A GP appointment, when most GP services are overstretched, should be used for medical issues only. Write your doctor a letter.Taking up an appointment slot to discuss practice policies with the doctor himself is as selfish as it gets!

Medical appointments are just that, they are for examination and treatment not discussion.
The appointment would never get past the receptionist anyway !0 -
