GP wants us to leave his surgery as we have moved house

Hi
It's about our GP who wants is to leave the surgery as we have changed our address and the address is not under their practice area
Although we stay 5 minutes away from their catchment area
I tried emailing them and told
Them that it is very convenient for me to travel to my old GP rather than go to a new GP
But the practice manager told me that I need to get registered with a new GP as I am away from their catchment area
I felt this is not fair and did some research and in 2015 the rules have changed
But the practice manager is adamant and wants us to leave
He has given me 30 days notice to find a new GP
Could some one help me with this please

Is the issue not that if the doctor has to,do a house call to you he'll be out on a limb?0

Thanks Hollydays
I did write in my email to the practice manager that we don't need any house visits and we can manage as we stay near to the hospital.0 -
Yes , but you might one day!0

Did you google this bit as well?
"These arrangements are voluntary for GP practices. If the practice has no capacity at the time, or feels it is not clinically appropriate or practical for you to be registered so far away from home, they can still refuse registration. The practice should explain to you their reason for refusing your registration."
Home visits are irrelevant because you can agree with the GP surgery that home visits won't be part of the arrangement. However they can still say no.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
So it's better to have a new GP now0

I think you've misunderstood the changes. The changes were so that GP practices could register patients outwith their boundaries if they choose to, not to force them to accept patients outwith their boundaries. These arrangements are voluntary for GP practices. If the practice has no capacity at the time, or feels it is not clinically appropriate or practical for you to be registered so far away from home, they can still refuse registration. I live fairly close to the edge of my GP's catchment area. They have a map on the reception wall making it very clear that if you move outside the defined area you will have to change to a different practice.
So, I could move up to about eight miles in one direction but less than a quarter of a mile the other way if I want to stay with the same doctor.
You have to draw the line somewhere I suppose!0 -

And what rules would they be?

However, the changes enabled GP practices to register patients outside their boundaries if they choose to, the rule change was not to force them to accept such outside patients though!0
