I bet you do. And I wouldn't be surprised if you drink and drive.0 -

Do unto others and all that...?I bet you do. And I wouldn't be surprised if you drink and drive.
I bet you £100 I don't.
After passing my driving test last year aged 41, I signed up with IAM six weeks later. 14 weeks after that I passed my advanced driving test. I've not drank alcohol for 8 years, I do drink and drive though, usually with a coffee by my side :rotfl:0 -
This is why I will never have a black box in my car. I would rather pay double the insurance premium than go through this kind of hassle.
Also, next Wednesday they are featuring them on BBC Watchdog, so should be interesting to see what they are saying about them.
Exactly, I've heard that they're such a rip off. I paid an extra £1000 for insurance without a black box and I don't regret it one bit. I don't agree with the way they track your location, or the fact that some offer fines. I know it's to encourage safer driving but it's still out of order the way they track you, isn't that an invasion of privacy?
I've always said I wouldn't want one, but I nearly did get a black box but my grandma strictly forbidded me to get one0 -

It's not an invasion of privacy if you agree to it when you take out the policy.
And I think you mean forbade.0 -

The point of them is to give cheaper insurance to newly qualified drivers who want to buck the stereotype of a new driver racing around, driving badly and so on - if you drive at or below the speed limit, drive carefully and so on, you are not penalised. The only penalties are for bad driving which you are warned about up front. If you don't think you can stick to the speed limit then paying more for your insurance is fine, you may well be doing that anyway when you get points from the police!
Anecdotally on forums (given the insurers don't say on sites), I've seen people claiming they were told stuff like not to 100mph on the motorway and done 40+ in a 30 limit and been told it's not an issue but I wouldn't take it as gospel - 10mph over the limit seems to trigger a warning with someSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
