See if a local broker (not Swinton) can help0

Julia, what exactly did she do to get the policy cancelled?
That will help posters0 -
Exceeding the speed limit 4 times in one month for which we paid a £100 fine to the insurers.
Some of the local roads in the area are 20mph so sometimes I think the speed can creep up.
I think it's unreasonable to pay a fine and have them cancel the policy. Maybe they could of imposed regulations for her as a last resort other than cancel it.0 -
I assume you got the £100 back (plus the remainder of the premium) when you cancelled?0

Did your daughter read the Terms and conditions for the blackbox? I can't read it from here.
Your daughter exceeded the speed limit and AND she agreed to a blackbox to reduce her premiums.
Do you think it's unfair for the insurers to fine/ cancel her insurance as she is clearly an insurance risk as not 1 but 4 times she disregarded the road rules. The imposition of regulations is to follow the highway code, no amount of fines can replace that.
Unfortunately she will now have to declare that she has now had insurance cancelled on her which will raise her future premiums.
I think it's better to have a 100 pound fine than 12 points on her license and 400 pounds fine from the police."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

This is why I will never have a black box in my car. I would rather pay double the insurance premium than go through this kind of hassle.
Also, next Wednesday they are featuring them on BBC Watchdog, so should be interesting to see what they are saying about them.0 -
Was the broker called My Policy by any chance? All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0

Seems sensible, you'd rather pay double than stick to speed limits...All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -

Probably "don't break the law while driving with one of these boxes in your car" :rotfl:Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It's not a "fine" it's an increase in premium due to your daughter being a higher risk because she can't stick to speed limits. Keeping to the speed limit is a pretty basic skills and isn't difficult and there really is no excuse to do it 4 times in a month especially when she has a black box!.0
