ARGOS & Home Delivery Charges

I discovered today in speaking to Argos that they make deliberate efforts to prevent their customers from having charges for home delivery refunded when an item is returned.
I received a faulty item last weekend and asked them to collect and refund it today. No problem! Except when I received the email confirming their arrangements I noticed that the delivery costs originally incurred (£3.95) were not being refunded....?
I telephoned the company and spoke to customer services who initially told me that this was correct because, "...you have received the home delivery service and so you can't have the cost of this refunded." When I challenged her about this and explained that they were breaking the Consumer Contract Regulations she inepltly agreed and then put me on hold to speak to a supervisor. When she returned she explained that because at no point anyone had "refused" to refund these charges, they were not breaking any law... She went on to explain that their computer system does not automatically apply this refund and that customers have to specifically request it. (I did request it and they point blank refused because of the alleged "service" I had received).
I wanted to make this forum aware as ARGOS are clearing preying on consumer ignorance and are potentially making off with money that does not belong to them. I hope this post is of some use to somebody somewhere..
