and if the scrunity stretched to say 10 - 15 years, would that be OK before invoking article 50
There's no need to stretch it out that long.
Just have parliament provide proper scrutiny and instruct the government what terms we'll leave on.
That will likely be as a member of the EEA/EFTA.
We'll trade like that for a decade or so and then the campaign to rejoin the EU can start.:)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

my original question was about whether MPs preventing brexit by whatever artifical devices, was democratic0 -
so you would consider it a democractic result, if article 50 was never enacted and brexit never occurred.
If the "will of the people" at some point in the near future was to remain in the EU then of course that would be a democratic result.Every generation blames the one before...

indeed so,
what exactly is your point? that no decisions can ever be made on any subject because in the future people may change their mind?0 -

Definitely a possible outcome.
If we do try to rejoin it will be on far worse terms than we have now so if it did come to that it will be an interesting debate!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
I think we'll first need to get through the spectacle of the Tory party tearing itself apart.
No bad thing really.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

The point is that by the time it comes around to making that decision many more people will have changed their mind.posh*spice wrote: »The minority Remainics will destroy this country
I thought it was the Remainers who were supposed to promote Project Fear not Leavers like you?!?! Neither side will "destroy this country" but we will be worse off if we leave the EU than if we stay.posh*spice wrote: »like all minorities do....
Any evidence of this or just a vile racist rant against "minorities?"Every generation blames the one before...

Yes and people are really going to vote for that - not.
You see Hamish the UK is a democracy - politicians can't just ignore the wishes of the public (any more.)0 -
