Brancaster is good. The pub opposite the beach road does pretty good food.
Old Hunstanton is a pretty good second place, very traditional - dunes, grass field car park, shop for ice cream, lifeboat station, beach huts and a nice beach.
My favourite "secret" beach is Thornham - not because it's particularly nice, though it's wide open sand, but because it's so quiet.
Streetview of the "carpark" - watch the tides !
Car Park
The beach is a good mile further along the sea wall.
It can be a bracingly solitary location.

There was a major fire earlier in the year that destroyed a large section of the high street - It has now been demolished and there is unlikely to be any reconstruction for ten years or more. During the hot summer days, you will find self basting whales spread out on acres of towels aggressively defending their patch of sand. Some sections of the shore also have some nasty rip currents waiting to drown the unwary.
With the beaches around Heacham/Brancaster, the tide goes out a long, long way. Unless you are paying attention when the tide turns, it is easy to get trapped on a sand bar.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -

Edited to add: Good grief, you can!
Yes, I was going to point out it wasn't an error, but a unique selling point. (Unless you want to watch the sun rise over the sea, of course)
The only west-facing prom on the east coast!!!!!

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm finding it really useful. Hubby and I want to head to this part of the UK in early July for two weeks, but before the schools break up. We're thinking of touring round the coast in a clockwise direction and finishing in Suffolk before heading home. Probably B&Bs, but if there's a better accommodation option we'd be open to it. No camping though - we don't have any of the equipment needed.
Is there much to see/do round Cromer? OH wants to go for some crab.
We both like historical sites, some walking and geocaching and would like to play a round or two of crazy golf as it's become a bit of a holiday tradition to get in at least one round.0 -

We have recently returned from a Sun950 weekend (we try to take a couple each year, one Spring, one Autumn) and we stayed at the park in Hunstanton. Perfect location - we travelled as far as Cromer (No1 Fish & Chip restaurant near the cliffs - worth the queue!), visited Blickling (National Trust Estate & house), visited a couple of Abbeys, the Nature Reserve at Blankeney and further along, RSPB reserve Titchwell Marsh and Holkham, where the beach and woodland walks are wonderful. Castle Rising is near Sandringham and Sandringham is less than 20 miles from Hunstanton.
