People are also killed every year because the government foolishly allows the general population to drive cars themselves. I can't find the petition though :(
I'm more concerned about some idiot texting and driving 365 days per year than I am a firework hitting me in the eye 3/4 days per year. Was indoors during Diwali/weekend so it would have needed to be a good shot
Maybe you should start your own petition and then start a thread on here asking people to sign it.

    Signed.

Freely admit, I'm a misery guts when it comes to fireworks. The locals have those bloody things going until 2-3am, often for several days either side of Bonfire Night itself. Drives me loopy when I already struggle to get a good night's sleep as it is. Called the police about it (since the law is being broken!) once but they were as useful as a chocolate teapot... I get why, mind. Can hardly expend the resources to drive around trying to find where they're coming from.

But aside from my general dislike for the whizz, bang and booming, I just figure it comes down to the safety argument. It seems an unnecessary risk for what amounts to a rather naff display in someone's garden. Licensing and supplying to professionals should, in theory, limit injuries and hospital admissions and a well-coordinated fireworks display is just better.
She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?

Driving is really useful though with lots of benefits, fireworks in back gardens aren't.

Texting while driving is illegal, although its a shame more aren't caught and fined.

There are plenty of things that are enjoyable and not useful that one would argue should be banned too. Fireworks are not the overarching issue here...it's more that a few people behaving poorly shouldn't be a case for restricted sale. It's also a link to 'nanny-state' ideology, which is something that a lot of people are strongly against.

Fireworks can be very pretty, giving memories for young children (lighting with parents help). These aren't so good on public displays as you get annoyed walking with the herd and a small kid would have a rubbish view among giants.

    Don't be ridiculous! :rotfl:

There is no point starting a petition for something that is already in force. :p

Would you still say that if someone threw a firework at you or your property and injured you?

If so, then we can agree to disagree.

What would you do if somebody hit you over the head with a piano?

Start a petition to ban pianos?

If someone caused injury or death to me or my family with a firework I wouldn't care if they were punished as it would be too late. I want to stop it happening in the first place.
I do hope you are going to sign my petitions to ban :
    Cars
    Bikes
    Dogs
    Peanuts
    Kitchen Knives
    Banana Skins
    Fish with Bones
All of which used irresponsibly can lead to death or serious injury ;)
