Landlord Gas Gas Safety Certificate and knackered oven

I suspect that the LL is also aware that the tenants have put up with a rather 'knackered' oven for some time (mentioned early in the thread). So he's trying to keep them sweet. Nice to see.0

Interesting development - brand new freestanding gas oven delivered and installed, but the tenants don't like it. Apparently on-line reviews of this oven "aren't good" and "it isn't safe"...
:rotfl:
And those reviews are probably based on people who didn't get the unit fitted by a competent person.
I worked in catering for 10 years, EVERY oven is different. You get to know each one.
You're being very generous replacing it. Be very careful what you acquiesce to....0 -
The description sounds like a combi microwave. These have convection heating elements as well as microwaves and do indeed cook anything an ordinary oven can. Mine does an excellent job with pastries, cakes and roasts
Oh - so it's a mini oven as well as a microwave. That's quite different to just a microwave! Thanks.0 -
remind the tenants, it is your house and they don't own it. If they want an oven they want, buy it themselves and take it with them.
Remind them you could easily have bought a 3rd hand rubbish one which still works and passes Gas safety tests. Or maybe an electric cooker which they will pay more for in terms of energy costs.
If you let this one go, who knows what the tenants will get away with? Broken toilet seat, they want one from John Lewis or a gold plated one."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
