The OH's idea of wrapping is to use the first thing that comes to hand....I've had Christmas paper at birthdays, brown paper at Christmas (this was before it was trendy!). I'm waiting for the day when the foil and cellophane get used!:rotfl:

I've had Xmas and birthday presents from an aunt taped up in the plastic bag they were bought in - not even nice bags, but ones that said things like "Poundland" or "Home Bargains" - often with the receipt still in the bag for all to see... :rotfl:

At least it's your receipt Misty! Imagine if she was just re-using the bag and forgot to take out the receipt from a past purchase! :rotfl: And remember every bag is worth 5p so that's an extra present for you.....you lucky thing:D xx

  • Very true Smolly, a free bag is a glorious gift indeed. :D

I like the standard Staedtler ball point pens myself - they seem so sturdy and dependable. I wish they made an erasable version. I remember those multicoloured Bic pens - they are a little big around for me, my hand gets a cramp using them!

You can use anything for a bullet journal, you don't need anything special. The set-up is just too complicated for me, though perhaps if I understood it a bit better I might like it. My filofax works so well for me though that I can't see the advantages of using anything else at the moment...

I need to get started on my project soon, I'm just having a strong cup of coffee to get me going.

Good luck with the project. I seem to have gone down with a slight cold, which accounts for all my sluggish days last week, OH let me sleep in until 10:00 (only woke me then to tell me he was going out).

Heavy frost, but so sunny and bright, intended staying in, but have a parcel to collect from town, so may treat mysel to a coffee or light lunch out, but have lots of things at home that I want to play around with, so will decide on the hoof so to speak.

Another one who dare not look at stationery, don't have a hoard, but could do quite easily:o

  • I'm sorry your not feeling 100% maddiemay, I hope it doesn't get any worse. It's cold and frosty here too, bright and sunny as well. So glad it's not the typical grey depressing British winter weather.

Unfortunately the project must be put off for the moment - I need a couple of tools that I thought were stored in the tool chest. After searching desperately for them, hub has sheepishly informed me they are being 'borrowed' by a workmate. It sounds silly but they are MY tools that I use for crafting and it would have been nice to have been asked/told.

I have plenty of other things to be getting on with, so will finish my 2nd cup of motivational coffee :o and get started.
  • Hope you enjoyed your coffee MMT.

I agree it is annoying that the tools have been lent out without your permission that would irk me too.

I'm going to put a vote in for the Papermate InkJoy ballpens as being an absolute pleasure to use - and they come is a glorious range of colours too! My first set were from £land - pink, blue, orange and purple in that pack, but I've since added to my range with a £3 bag of mini ones from ThaT SupermarkeT! :D

I decided that if I were to follow the rules on bullet journalling I'd get very bored with it very fast as a lot of it just didn't strike me as useful for the way I wanted it to work, So accordingly I've jettisoned the rules, and am doing it my "own" way instead. a £1 sectioned "project book" is what I've chosen, and it really is working well. (And I'm not artistic enough to do all the beautiful artwork and lettering that some people use but coloured pens pep it up beautifully!)
:T If the filofax is working for you then that's exactly the point though isn't it!

How absolutely infuriating that just as you've psyched yourself up to crack on with that job you've found you can't! You're absolutely right about being asked before they were loaned!

  • I also love the papermate inkjoy pens.

I bought about 8 packs of them in B&M or Home Bargains I think they were only like 1.25 each.

I have a new journal on the way for 2017, I cheated & bought some stencils to art it up a bit, I can't even draw a stick person LOL

  • The tools will be returned by next Wednesday. I have some appts on Thursday so am hoping to get the job done on Friday, and then I can put up the xmas decorations.

At the moment I have some unexpected work so have less time available to cross things off my list. I am still on track to have the house sorted before Christmas, anything that is left out will have to be put away somewhere until Jan. I'd like to enjoy being with the family and not put extra pressure on myself over the holidays.

I've had some inkjoy pens! Various people have 'borrowed' them at one point and not returned them. Mainly my children, who seem to feel that my things are fair game. Luckily they don't seem as enamoured with the Staedtler pens as I am, so they last a bit longer. I'm not one for decorating my filofax system or journals, I know a lot of people love making that kind of effort but I just see it as wasted time that could be used for something more productive. :o

I went back and re-read some of this diary after Bobarella's lovely comment and can't believe how much I have accomplished in such a short time. Not long ago everything was in such chaos. It's far from perfect at the moment and I STILL need to work on the budget and meal plans, but I feel much more relaxed and in control of my life. And now I know exactly what is coming in and going out each month, how much I have available for food, etc. it's not as if I am stumbling blindly. Unfortunately my trial of YNAB is on it's last 10 days and I haven't put the effort needed into fully understanding the program, so won't be subscribing once the trial ends. I feel like I am missing a trick here, as so many people love it. I think I may need to start out with something simpler, so am going to look hard at Goodbudget and see if it works for me. I have lots of lovely intentions to sit down and get it sorted but never seem to find the time. I need to have a day completely clear of scheduled jobs so I can take the time to get it right and actually understand what I'm doing... :o
