It doesn't inspire anyone with confidence that you will have carried out a safe job when you couldn't even get that right. Seriously, you need it checked by an Electrician. And vow never to attempt electrical work again.

    Want some salt with that?

Ignore him. Some people have nothing constructive to say and have their heads up their backsides most of the time. The concept of a DIY forum on a moneysaving website is clearly lost on him. :D

The existence of a DIY forum (although actually it only includes it) doesn't mean that you should risk the lives of yourself, friends, family and visitors by carrying out dangerous electrical work which you are not competent to carry out though.

The lights work fine, I read up on wiring, got the basics and changed a few roses and a switch.

You sound like the kind of guy who won't walk on leaves because there is a risk you'll slip and break your neck.

What you fail to grasp is that although they illuminate they may be unsafe.
  • Yes the house will blow up because I swapped a ceiling rose around. I should have phoned an electrician and paid £150.

Likewise I should get a chef in tonight to cut my vegetables and maybe get Lewis Hamilton to drive my kids to school in the morning.

Gosh you are so negative. We're going to call you Negatron, King of the Naysayers.

Looking at his post history it seems he's an electrician who thinks he's a rocket scientist and that anyone else can't possibly be skilled enough to wire a plug and must call him to do it.
