I shall experiment with your root-veg-in-water tip, although they are destined for soup pretty shortly anyway. And I fear it won't get rid of the mould

Well I WAS working on my use-it-up challenge until I found WEEVILS in the dried soup mix stuff this morning  Not had them before  No idea whether they were in there when I made soup with it last weekend
:rotfl:
I've chucked that (felt guilty but it's been in there over five years (!) and even I didn't fancy eating it with things crawling in it - although I guess I could have rinsed them off :rotfl: ) Fortunately (fingers crossed) they don't seem to be in anything else... but it's as good an excuse as any to clean the cupboards and pack more stuff I suppose. A job for tomorrow!0 -
Cheery -:eek::eek: to Weevils! - chucking it out is the best decision!
BTW - don't worry overly about last week - if you must think about it just be grateful for a bit of extra protein!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I think we can all agree food with bugs in is no longer really fit to eat and considering we'd like you healthy I think that's perfectly OK. The chicken however I will not tell, she loves a bit of bugs in her grub.
I'm sure if they were there last week in your soup, you might have seen them swimming.:rotfl:Cheery -:eek::eek: to Weevils! - chucking it out is the best decision!

Cheery, I'm like that when I'm moving rotted manure from the muck heap to the vegetable patch - all the worms have to be carefully scooped out of the wheelbarrow and put into their new home rather than accidentally leaving any in the barrow where they'll dry out!
Off to make a rather smaller list than Pippi's for today...0 -
