    Hi Sophie,

My skin sounds quite like yours so I will let you know how I get on! I'm 26, but I've been told it's good to start anti aging stuff around 25. I don't find my forehead gets fine lines but around my mouth tends to if I am dehydrated.

My skins been clogged and pimply lately - not sure if its products I'm using or, perhaps dehydration and then my skin is producing too much oil to counteract the dehydration.

Have you heard of the oil cleansing method? You can adapt it to the condition of your skin. Search for it on here. I get an oily forehead and it works really well because it fools the skin into thinking it's producing too much oil so cuts back on the amount it produces. I think you can use it on a daily basis but I tend to use it more as a treatment and when I do it use it a couple of times a week.

Thanks for both of your replies :)

Houseplant - I've just turned 25 so I really should be looking at some sort of anti ageing stuff... Don't know where to start as I'm so concerned about everything clogging my skin! I'm really interested to see how you get on with PCMC. I read somewhere that it contains a silicone of some sort and I try to avoid silicones in my hair products as I heard it can irritate skin?
I know dehydration is probably one of my problems, I don't drink enough water so I'll try and start tackling that now and hopefully with the La Roche cream my skin will start looking better soon.

Lynsey - I've heard about the oil cleansing method but I'm such a wuss when it comes to putting new product on my skin for fear of breaking out! Can you (or anyone else) recommend a specific oil?

Thanks for all the advice so far! I love this thread :D

I just used normal sunflower, which isn't the greatest smelling but am sometimes a bit of a cheapskate :rotfl:

Some people use almond oil or coconut oil.

When I bought my castor oil I got it from Boots but had to ask for it because apparently it's not a kept on the shelf product any more.

I have a uu from my 5 by Christmas list:

Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Stick in Rose - this is lovely, the colour is a glossy, sheer red which looks very flattering, it lasted forever as whilst being super easy to apply and glossy the actual stick was quite firm so never seemed to wear down. WBA

    One UU:

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Intensive Relief Hand Cream WBA, it was very nice. The smell takes a bit of getting used to, but it is so moisturising. And it's lasted about three months with daily use.

And I'm running out of hand creams, I've nearly finished another one, and then I'll have no hand creams in my house, and only one in my hand bag.

    One TA:
Colgate toothpaste sample I did not like this, WNB.

Do you use a serum - I find that makes the biggest difference to my skin. I'm 32 and I can use any old moisturiser, it's when I use a hyaluronic (sp?) acid containing serum that I see a difference. I use Vichy Aqualia.

Caroline Hirons' website might be worth a read, she is very informative about skin care. Personally I don't really get on with the things she recommends but lots of people do.

UU: Original Source Coconut & shea butter shower gel. Used to be my HG but after a month on Lush shower gels I think I may be (reluctantly - hate shopping in Lush because of the staff) converted.
  • I have some UUs

Tiny pot of Magic Organic Apothecary The Green Balm - I liked this I actually used it as a balm cleanser I think it is multipurpose. Nice to use but very rich. Hard to get a feel for it as only lasted two uses. WMBA.
Lush bath melt shaped like an Angel - forgot name! Seems to be half melt half bomb. WMBA liked the smell but didn't seem that moisturising. Also turns the water bright yellow which makes it look like you did a huge huge wee in the bath!!!

Thanks Lynsey and Catherine :) I'll check out your recommendations.. I've heard Vichy products are amazing!

Sorted through my stash today as one of the products had leaked everywhere! I've now separated it into three stashes:
    - Products I'm currently using in my wash bag. These include HG products and essentials and the wash bag has been placed in the bathroom.
    - Products that are very nearly finished / that I would like used up before I go away in December.
    - Products that are newish / fairly full / duplicates or that I am planning to take away with me.

    I've also TA:
    15. TBS Mango Lip Butter WNBA - got lost at the bottom of my stash and didn't really think much of it before as it seemed to dry out my lips instead of moisturise then. It's gone a bit hard now so chucked it.
    16. Yves Rocher Peeling Scrub - this came with me from my mums stash when I moved out about 3 years ago! It's very old and I couldn't work out if it's for face or feet so I've chucked it.
    17. Wella Colour Fresh Silver Toner - this was the product that leaked! It was very good when I had blonde hair but as I haven't had blonde highlights in over 2 years and it's pretty much empty from leaking, it's gone.

    And one UU:
    18. Nivea Express Hydration Primer WNBA - didn't think much of this primer. It rolled under make up and I don't think it made any difference to my skin.

    Hi

    This my weekly update:-

    Waitrose Pure Face Cream
Avon Skin So Soft Bath Oil x 2
    Westlab Espom Salt
    Avon Tropical deodorant
    M&S Garden Soap
    Estee Double Wear Maximum Foundation

    In
Avon Premium de Luxe Perfume x 3
Avon Skin So Soft Original Bath Oil x 6

Total = 91 (still going down!!)

Cannot recommend Avon Skin So Soft Original Bath Oil enough (not the infamous body spray). I used it as my shower gel as you do not need to moisturise afterwards, use if my home made body scrub with sugar and epsom salt and in my home made facial scrub with oatmeal and sugar. Its brilliant!!
